There has been no apparent work on the aircarft in the last 3 weeks since the interior was stripped of its spares stock round about the second week of August.

The End Game

Scrapping Belfast next week and CL44 engines gone long ago, this will also be scrapped .

Log Books for both were stolen by an angry little man and his bum son so hot saw option the best.

Most things at SEN end up as a saga, some do get away like our 707 QF.

Angel Cl44 Tradewinds Lgw

I worked for Tradewinds out of LGW in 1978 and carried the Formula One Circus in three CL44`s.We had 6 at the time and lost one in Zaire with a gear problem. It was carring cement and everybody got out OK.Unfortunately they were replaced by the B707. G-Wind,G-Sail were two of them.

There was a CL44 ownwed by a Swis guy who did sub service for us.

There is one still intact on the military ramp in Guayaquil.

CL44 happenings!

Thanks to all for the Posts. As the 2010 CL44 Re-Union inches closer (22 May in London) I can respond to certain points !
Firstly-I am pleased to say that TWO former Transvalair guys will be gracing us with their presence-Markus Seiler and F/Eng Malcolm Granville.
Secondly, the situation with the Guppy at BOH is that it HAS been sold! However, to date, no movement around the aircraft has been recorded by our local 'Agent'.
The Association has lodged its interest in acquiring certain parts of the a/c should this become possible at any stage. In the meantime, the latest Newsletter, mailed to our 150 members, contains first hand stories of crew members. These include THE 26 TONNE RATATOUILLE and THE DEMISE OF CYPRUS AIRWAYS CL44 5B-DAN. Do send me an email if you wish to become a member-we have former Flying Tigers, Seaboard, Slick, TMAC, Transglobe, Tradewinds, United African Airlines, Affretair (Air Gabon Cargo) Aeron, Wrangler Blue Bell, etc etc. Alas, we have few copies of the video and all of the copies of the CL44 Story book, have been sold.
If you have withdrawal symptoms for the 44, you can always pay us a visit to the ex RAF Britannia (XM496) at Kemble

If you look at the following aerial photo, it would appear that the CL44 is no longer at the site of the old Jakarta Airport;
Google Maps

The equivalent aerial photo on Bing Maps - driving directions, routes, and traffic ve#map=-6.15172,106.8461|18|32&dp=860&loc=ID:-6.17444:106.82944:17|Jakarta|Jakarta, Jakarta Raya, Indonesia shows 2 aircraft at the south side of the semi-circular lake (the lake on the left in the Google photo) one of which looks like a CL44 (presumably s/no 19).

As you'll see from these aerial photos, the old Jakara airrport has now been completely redeveloped and there's little trace of it now.
The ex Bayu Air CL-44 at Halim was scrapped about 4 years ago , not sure when the Kamayoran CL-44s were scrapped but probably 5 or 6 years ago

Oh well, I remember an escorted visit to the Canadair plant. A high-light was a tour through a CL-44, then under construction. I think they were also making F-104 Starfighters.
