Yes I know that the Conroy CL-44 O was registered N447T. Unless I have seriously misread the thread, ( pre senile amnesia etc) the mention of US N registration was regarding the 2nd Belfast presently at Southend. The Guppy has Philippine registration pending as RP-C8023.
Hope it helps clear up any confusion.

Avgas old pal,
You may be right about the Guppy not being given a US registration in the future, but she certainly had one in the past.
When I flew the old girl she had N447T on the side.

How much commonality is there between the RR Tyne engine and propellor on the Guppy and those on the Belfast? The both have the same power output but have a different model designation. Is it just the mounting arrangements that are different or are there other differences?

As far as I can recall, the auxiliaries on one are electrically driven and hydraulically driven on t'other though I am damned if I can remember which is which, they are not interchangeable. I am sure one of our more erudite Tyne artisans will clarify in much greater detail soon,
I hope.
Hope it helps

I may be wrong but i think the belfast use to have 4x 60 gall watermeth tanks.
Mounted 2 between engines1/2 &2 between engines3/4 near the rear spar.Remember filling up the tanks early eighties in heavylift days?
Connection underside of wing not very user friendly.
CL44 airstart under flight deck floor hell of a rackect on off load of air on start up.

From my Belfast Pilot's Notes:
Water-Methanol injection system
Tanks (four) ........Fibre-glass
Capacity..............62.5 gal. each (250 gal. total) Spec.D.Eng.RD 2491)
Reading the blurb reminds me that (in basic terms) the system allowed sea-level power to be maintained up to 10,000 ft amsl for 4 minutes.

Is there a planned timetable for getting the Belfast back in the air or is it just a case of working through the servicing schedule, assessing the status and fixing whatever needs fixing?
I'm hoping that someone will be able to post some photos / video of the testing and return to flight.
Are there any plans to bring the Belfast to Prestwick again?

CL44 scrapped in 4 weeks !!!!!! They can use the stolen logbooks as dinner trays ?
They ( M.P. / G.L. ) should have fun explaining their actions causing the scrapping of CL44 at the CL44 association reunion in June

.
She should have joined the Belfast twins ?

Hi Heavy cargo.
I paid money to go to the Forty Four re union in October this year. Has the date been changed? Nothing new shown up on the website-and their News-sheet has no mention. Will ring their Treasurer and Post reply to you.
