Rumours whisper that AJ is on a roll and should be up and running early 2008, I believe the base will be southend.

A handful of the ex EA members are confirmed to be involved, so goodluck to those who do, whether it be a risk or not.

I think the Feds are making them jump through every conceivable hoop before they will grant an AOC.

I wish AJ all the luck he needs, but alas if I were a betting man, I would sooner put my money on Derby County staying in the Premiership. Especially if MOB is involved. I may be guessing, but I think hell may freeze over before the Feds grant an AOC to anything he may have anything to do with.

748's are very old now, and as such, a bit on the unreliable side. Can't see any decent courier / post contracts going the way of the budgie's again. Things have moved on.

Ad hoc maybe, but not that much out there for that size of machine.

Forget it, not worth printing other than to say you're in cloud cookoo land (although if you are who I think you are, I'm not surprised).

Edited to get rid of most of it cos Aviator 2 and the MOB fan club will never change their minds and neither will those of us who have a realistic view of him and his talents.

but I have spoken to many professionals within the industry over recent years who speak highly of him and would like to see him involved in the re-launch
Damn straight they want him involved, it's a guaranteed failure if he is!

It's funny but when I left and went elsewhere, the first thing that was said to me was, if you come and work for us, don't worry it isn't anything like Emerald, so don't worry. That was before it went to the wall, so what the place was really like was well known to the "professionals" in the industry.

No-one wants more competition and using shagged out 748's will never amount to anything any more unfortunately.

The world has moved on and with a reputation like Emerald stinking up any project, it just won't work.

I just hope no-one is relying on this.

So is it true that the AOC application has been put on 'hold'?

I thought you where the one who always knew more than us others.

I don't believe that it has been put on hold, all the normal checks and tests are being done and then AJ should be on his way.

Sincerest apologies if my last post before offended any one, I see it has been removed...just a bit of banter for the boys.

Oh aviator, I dont profess to know everything, but I was around when the biggest collapse of an airline since Air Europe took place, and know some of those who are STILL owed six figure sums.

Do not fret, if you are daft enough to be flying one of those 748s that our good friends at the authority seem to be taking 4 times longer to approve an AOC that they normally take, then rest assured you will be inpounded for a debt that is yet to be paid.

I can assure you, and those directors (or should that be failed directors) of the shortest airline in the history of UK aviation , you can run, but you can never hide.

Hope they give you large limits on you credit cards !! (although cant imagine they will EVER get credit from anyone ever again !!)

Sweeping statements
"biggest collapse of an airline since Air Europe took place"
Swiss air, Sabena, Duo may have had an edge on that

How could you gauge the life of the airline, as the shortest.

Hi all, slightly off topic but did not know where else to ask.
I worked in ops for a while at Emerald, I have now completed my flight training and as I worked there within the last 5 years (just) I need the exact dates of employment for my CV and for an airside pass when/if I get a job.
Anyone know where I can get that info, or will rough dates do if an employer cant check due to there being no-one to contact.

Best wishes all and thanks in advance.
Ian

Most companies will accept the dates if you explain that the place went bust. If you need it, try and get hold of an ex-colleague so that they can countersign to prove that you worked there.

I've done it for quite a few ex-emerald colleagues and they haven't had any problems.

Good luck with the job hunting. If you've already been successful, then well done!

SAS thanks for the swift response, no job as yet as MCC is booked for next week, then wanted to start applying, Eastern being one of the priority airlines for me, but Cpt Si R is Head of Training now I believe, so wanted dates to be accurate prior to applying.
Would it be cheeky of me to contact him to certify I worked at Emerald and also use the contact! if he is contactable direct.

Thanks again

There's a couple of ex-Emerald folks at Eastern. SR certainly was at Eastern last time I saw. Why not try him, you never know!

Good luck and don't be shy about using any contacts you have.
