Cathay Application SO

On SO Application, CX is asking if I had done some flight within 6months, and When was my last MEIR Proficiency check.
Do you think those are important factor for selection process?

Did anyone got a response, not flying for 6 months?

If you're applying for a pilot position, then yes, recency is an important factor! If you're wondering whether it's acceptable not to be current or to have not flown recently, it really depends on your experience. For instance, if you have 3,000 hours but haven't flown in the past 6 to 12 months, that may not be an issue. However, if you have less than 1,000 hours, it could impact your chances of securing an interview. My advice? Go ahead and apply—you never know.....

To which I would add: If they're asking the question, then yes, it is an important factor in the selection process.

Same boat here, I only just recently done my BFR after 4 years not touch any airplane.
Working as a VFR pilot now, passed the online interview and waiting for the next step.

Hello everyone!

New here !

Can I ask what attachment I can put on the ATPL written results? And how can I adjust my flying hours from FAA to the P1, P1 U/S, etc...?

I have FAA CPL ME IR with more than 250 hours, but I don't know what to put on the ATPL written result attachment field since in the FAA world they will allow you to take only the written exams after logging 1500 hours and attending ATP-CTP grounds. And adjusting the flying hours from FAA world to HK CAD world is quite daunting.

Thank you !

Are DESO applicants still being sent to ADL or Phoenix now?

I think as you only have 250 hours none of it will be multi crew, so you would log either PIC/P1 or PUT as you cant be P1 under supervision in a single pilot aircraft, you would either be in the left seat as PIC or in the left seat under training when the instructor is PIC, as you aren't licensed for the type of aircraft/flying you are doing during that flight. For single engine commercial training that would be P1/PIC as you are licensed to fly that aircraft, it's only PUT if you are in a situation that would not be legal if not with an instructor.

Thank you very much SloppyJoe, much appreciate it . Now it makes sense.

How about instead for the "ATPL Written Exam Results" attachment field on their website, what should I put there?
Because it is required by their system and I cannot leave it blank; but I do not have any since in the FAA world they will allow only to take the ATPL written only when we have 1500 flying hours and after attending the ATP-CTP grounds.

Thank you so much again for your help

With the ATPL written I think you may be out of luck. I joined a long time ago and am no longer at CX but when I joined it was always a conversion and some exams were required depending on where your ATPL was from. Mine was FAA and I think I had to do around 6 of the HKCAD ATPL exams, there was some ground-school which mainly consisted of going over the questions and answers to get through the exams, this was done in Australia over the course of about a month including a bit of flying to tick boxes. The problem you have is you have not ever done the ATPL exams so they would most likely want you to do the full ground-school course which is the best part of a year as you have very little experience and haven't done the theory. They are not going to put you through that course as they don't have to as will have enough applicants who do meet the requirements.

Best bet is to email recruiting to get a definite answer but I am almost certain it will not be the news you want.
