The poor labour relations between cockpit crew and management obviously has a detrimental effect on the safety of Flight Operations at Cathay Pacific.
The safety at CX is currently second to none.
I am no shorty but I cannot simply stand by and read this cr@p without comment "obviously" indeed!

There is no flight safety problem, just an awfully pathetic attempt at scaremongering by a small minority who cannot accept that they have lost.
HandyAndy by the way CX Management DO know who Thrust is.
Before you start with the management plant, first post, newly registered cr@p, this is a new callsign because I don't want to get involved in this under my normal one.
Enjoy

Perhaps I was a little blunt?
Maybe I should have said, "that the poor labour relations between cockpit crew and management obviously *..................... the safety of Flight Operations at Cathay Pacific."
* Please insert one of the following according to your political persuasion or perspective on the world:
1. has a detrimental effect on
2. has no effect on
3. actually improves
I wonder what a Professional Pilot would think?

Hi there Mr. SOLO. Long time no spar.....
Equating me with the mole, that's a bit OTT
Why are you even bothering to contribute here?
You obviously disliked CX and therefore made a very good and sensible decision to move on (as did others like you). You told me before that you are now glad you did and are enjoying life after CX.
So what are you doing here other than stirring the excrement?
Or perhaps you've discovered , as many have, that the grass is not so geen on the other side...???
Have a nice day

Cheesy, how are you?
I got an email from an old forum lurker and came over for a quick stir of the pot. As you know most went into the AOA forum and I was dissapointed to see the vitrol here but obviously can't help.
Even the most basic of posts seems to bring an attack. Sad.
I post because I can. Worried...
I would close the forum down if it were mine. As I said, I'm glad I left the forum.
I don't dislike Cathay (don't believe I ever said anything of the sort) and I left because I had a better offer. Remember, it is a career and I made my choice. The grass is lush. Greener? Who knows. I wouldn't trade my old CX job for it.

Going back to the orginal question...what the hell does all this stuff, triple slotted flaps...vortex generators and whatever, have to do with safely flying an aircraft? Am I to assume (let the abuse begin) that to fly for CX you need to be not only a pilot but a aeronautical engineer as well?

hottie,
I believe that generally speaking a vortex generator placed on an engine nacelle is there to combat a destructive vortex produced by the nacelle in the slower flight area.
The vortex gererator will produce a vortex which will redirect the destructive one essentially cancelling it out. Some may redirect it to an area where it may even become usefull....
again, this is generally speaking.
try searching tech log... i recall reading some information regarding this subject there.
