My experience of Jet 2 from a flight 2 years ago is of a knackered B737-300 with chemical toilets, a horrid interior full of adverts and incessant PAs trying to get you to buy crap. I wouldn't rate them above CX or KA.
I would echo that and when a booking error was flagged up (paid too much) no discussion, no refund. Never been there since.

Olster the breath of fresh air is freh BECAUSE you saw some great years at CX.
If today were the main years of your career you'd have a very different view.

You could be right, bring back the 80's. However, Jet deux does what it says on the tin, not necessarily very glamorous but in my experience, working for them is to hark back to a simpler time. Not exposed to knife in the back politics and the managers that one deals with are empathetic middle aged pilot types. It is a long time since I left Cathay but the vitriol spills out from these pages, no doubt justifiably. A real shame. The rot really set in with the 49ers which probably wiped out cordial industrial relations permanently.

Didn’t the guy that runs Jet 2 try every trick in the book to avoid recognising BALPA , all the way to a test case in the Supreme Court ?

Aren’t they still refusing to deal with BALPA in many areas idespite BALPA winning the court case ?

Sounds just like CX with smaller aircraft . Plenty of squadron mates as well I believe.

All undoubtedly correct nil further. I don’t mind the background of my pilot colleagues, military or otherwise, they all seem a convivial and professional bunch to me. I can only relate my personal experience. My wife likes to make the laden with irony statement that I am going to finally retire from an airline that I don’t actually hate! I wish we could all fly for Air Utopia but it saddens me that Cathay has become like this. The owner of Jet2 does appear to have a Thatcherite view of trade unions including Balpa. But even this will be resolved eventually without excessive angst one day I am sure. However despite this and probably because of market conditions the package has improved considerably coupled with a pleasant work environment makes it unfashionably ok in my view.

Cheers
