Did you get paid your salaries? Rumour on the street is that you are downsizing as 13 a330s to leave the fleet and 150 pilots to be made redundant.

I too have heard the same rumour of A330 downsizing and its not great!
My source indicates 11 A330s will leave and its not just due to financial issues. Of those 11 machines leaving 6 are PW powered, of which two have been grounded for months anyway. Those engines are coming to the end of their life cycles and PW4000 engines are almost impossible to find and replace. The two ex Emirates RR 200 series are going, in-fact one of them was grounded basically since it arrived as parts for its sister. Hainan is also taking back the three RR powered 200 series without IFE, they never belonged to HKA and eventually were always going to go home.
In return we are getting back three A320s from HNA starting in March or April and will continue with the A350 deliveries.
HKA must streamline and cut the fat were possible. The 3 A320s that we will receive are actually our machines. The books are being opened to prospective buyers so cutting the excess will make things look better and what is ours comes back to us and what's HNAs returns to them. Redundancies are the last resort and the figure is actually closer to 100 that need to be placed. Many guys have taken the Non Paid Leave option with some taking two years. Some will be pushed back onto the A320 and some will be moved up onto the A350 as and when frames arrive. My understanding is that some may also be seconded to HKCargo on a temporary basis as I hear they are still short.
The good news is the company will continue to operate, yes there will be a downsize in the short-term and yes the company is starting the long process to find a new owner.

I predict no growth for the next two years until CAAC decides which of the 'China Big Three' takes us. My bet is on China Southern. Forget the Singaporeans or Qataris. CAAC ordered the debt repayment so now its out of HNAs hands thank god!! Onwards and upwards.

Swire, 44, said the experience went smoothly and the service on the low-cost trip to Hainan was perfectly fine.
Staff at Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon might take this as a little hint that they might like to step up their game.

Its been awhile since my posts got me front page attention on the weekly KA update, from the now convalescing ex GMO. Oh how I loved posting the rundown of the abysmal ka delays, cut n pasted from our GMO .
anyway , I digress. I would hate to do KA 3-2-2-3 china ops, nothing but lousy hotels , unhealthy food and deeeelays.
You can have your money and security and your reporting at shiney CX city.
Me , I’ll take my A350 flt to AKL , 48 hours rest , and return , 5 days patten thank you. LA next .
I hear the KA guys are still slogging around their multi sector China days, with ever more “ efficient “ rosters. Even their CX brethren ridicule them in the briefing office. Mate, say the CX guys, , “that’s an awful roster, how do you do it? “ The ka guys says, this 1-3 is actually a great roster lol.
Working at Swire’s maybe secure, but who will live longer?

HK Express don’t fly to Hainan. HK Airlines do, but they are full-service.

Not a lot, but just saying that HKA may be riskier in terms of employment verses KA, and around half the money. But its more engaging, less staid and
all that money isn't going to give you a long life. I would imaging the KA boys are a bit embarrassed checking to their new BO , rubbing shoulders with their CX brethren, briefing
(but quietly )their 3 sector, 12 hour China experience that lays ahead, with the CX boys looking forward to 4 crew Madrid or London or JFK. No one would actually choose a KA roster vs a CX one (or HKA 350!) , or am I missing something? (sorry, thread drift)

Looks like HKA is still getting sued by a Macau lender for defaulting on loan repayments. Still not out of the woods yet.

Yes, I hear there’s a sudden interest in the ‘Seniority list’ at HKA.
Just one small detail they fail to grasp. There is no such thing as a ‘Seniority List’ in HKA.
That would require a functional Union to enforce. No such thing exists there.
Theres a ‘Date of Joining list’, which is a whole other thing, and anybody foolish enough to believe their DOJ at HKA gives them any priority in the firing sequence should wise up, and ask some of the original FO’s about the ‘Seniority list’.
Check the ‘kiss ass list’ if you want to know your ‘Seniority’.

I hear from a reliable source that you guys got a 2% pay rise on your basic, and your management pilots got an increase of about 15,000K per month. Imagine that, an airline that is struggling to survive, gives its pilots a pay rise, whereas we are spending our profits on buying a loss making low cost airline.
Pathetic.
