EK, time to command about 5-6 years. vs 20...... Gee, let's stay at CX and enjoy two decades of abuse until they deem me worthy of upgrade (or not...).

Well, if you have the experience it's 8 weeks to command. And I have friends in EK, so the timeline isn't really that far off. If you were a twenty something FO, where would you go? Hong Kong without housing and almost 15 years plus to command...? Ok, enjoy that life, living in a shoebox and not being able to afford a wife/kids. And those of you in the sandbox should realise that life for a CX pilot now in HK is the same as living in an "utter hole"...

DEFO's were at CX interviewing this week.

I wonder if they will sign the contract and then 6 months later demand CC over that same contract?

Why is it that the Cathay Pacific job information neglects to say what their "regularly reviewed, competitive renumeration package" actually is...

Pilots | Careers - Cathay Pacific

When the Cathay Dragon website is very much more open about their salary.

Cathay Dragon | Pilots

So Cathay Dragon offer HKD98,300pm starting package.(USD12,600 pm)

What would the current Cathay Pacific package be?

I think the people who apply are smart enough to google a thing or two about Hong Kong. It's the most expensive city in the world at the moment and you have big brother breathing down your neck. If they still choose to come then it's their problem.

OK, Gals and Lads that turned up for interviews for DEFO, initial number was 14. Of those 4 were deemed suitable for the DEFO entry and offered positions. At this stage no info on how many of those 4 accepted but the reality is that it is not acceptance but how many actualy turn up on the start date that matters.
