AHK to take the freighters?
There seems to be a rumbling regarding AHK taking our freighters. As is usually the case here, nothing, and I mean nothing would surprise me. There was a comment on the AOA bulletin boards regarding this scenario. It alluded to the fact that there might/should be a waiver to allow displaced Freighter captains to be allowed to transfer across to the pax fleet, with the associated issue of 'out of seniority' rights. I must say early on that that is a complete non-starter. We have enough issues to deal with without injecting such a controversial and emotive subject. This career has precious little of value left in it, but that is the one redoubt of value that remains. Over my dead body....

Training plan says no conversions for 747 LHS .
Whilst the plan lasts about as long as a snowflake in summer I think you guys are shooting at shadows at the moment however, should it come to pass that AHK do take the FRTR operation, then there is no reason why the FRTR only people should not be seconded accross to AHK- but then what would your lot have to get your knickers in a twist about?

IF AHK took the freighters...then our freighter only Captains could go with them while staying on the Veta seniority list. This was done before with the old AHK. CX officers were assigned to fly AHK aircraft.
Having said that, rumours abound in the training centre that a VLA (pax) aircraft is on the way to CX and not the A380. Apparently they are to be leased. The rumour of A380s from Malaysian has been going round a while, but with the introduction of the A350 there is no way they could do the A380 as well. The 747-8i would slot right in...
Point being - don't believe ****e until they pitch up on the ramp.

Rest assured that, whatever happens, Cathay will take the path that saves them most money and prepares the Airline for sale to a big Chinese 'player' thereby closing the circle that started with the introduction of opium to this part of the world and 'dog eat dog' (literally) commerce ever since.
The last thing that will be considered is the interests of the Pilot group.

Stand easy Sarge, surely you meant: ' KA fly CX routes all the time with KA aircraft... nobody in KA complaining about that though..."
We both need do nothing about it, so let's move along......
