Converting to FAA

Several years ago, I contacted a local FAA FSDO to convert (add) my type ratings on the CAD license onto the FAA ATP. In turn, they contacted OKC (FAA HQ). The short answer is they wouldn't convert the type rating for a part 129 carrier.
Things like this CAN vary FSDO to FSDO. I'd give it a try at a local FSDO and let us know what the answer comes back (and where you went). Not optimistic based on my experience--sorry. Maybe things have changed.

So wellie, you would rather get the information you require from a rumour network than go to THE authority that can answer all your questions.
Here's some info for you. Yup, did it last week, it was a breeze, the FSDO guy did all the work for me. I showed up at the office and sat back and had a coffee while he filled out my paperwork for me. Took all of 15 mins.
Now who are you going to believe, me or letsfly?

T-Bird,
If you don't mind my asking, which FSDO did you go to ?
Might do a retry; either the rules have changed since I went or the one you went to had an answer I'd like better than the one I went to. Just trying to add the type ratings.

Provided that you have the hours, 5 days at any one of numerous providers and you will walk away with an FAA ATP. I self studied the written exam and just did the flying component. Day 1 practice ride and prep, day 2 test and day 3 is a spare day just in case.
