New Delay Code - Please note

a new delay code has been added to cover delayed/cancelled flights

In future please use the code NFC (No Friggin' Crew)

CC seems to be causing a world of pain

Dicky's latest email says it all. He's definitely feeling the stress.

CC/xxx could in itself be used as a delay code. I dare anyone to try.

It was everywhere in the news last week: Flu outbreak in Hong Kong

True solution: award to pilots the same inflation adjustment as every other staff got, and adjust the HKPA to a decent level. That'll bring back some goodwill and flexibility.

Ricky's solution:
1. I forbid you to tell your colleagues not to work on their days off.
2. Are you really, really, really sick? I mean, really?

Well Kung Hey Fat Choy to you too, Ricky. You did well pushing your true feelings aside and let us all celebrate the season...

We, the worthless nobodies, couldn't just keep nicely in line, take it and keep quiet, could we?
We've ruined your nice plans and got you dishonorably discharged early, did we?
It wasn't your fault, was it?

We're sorry. I'll bring a box of cream crackers at your retirement party, to make it up to you.

Happy gardening.

Am I the only one who was offended by the contents of RH latest missive ?
But as previous posts have stated CC s really beginning to hurt so keep piling on the pressure

Can't see when the new code NFC is really needed especially when the flight is cancelled .I would love to know what excuses they are giving to the traveling public and just how much it is costing them to buy full fare tickets on other airlines .

My bank account is morphing in something I don' t recognize since inflation
Is eating it alive. Whilst it could be unpalatable to you, if I am sick then
I keep my pax safe by staying home. What a tool!

Yes indeed. Cc is working...and only going to get tougher for them to man flights

Wait one more month when the +RA starts appearing in the TAF's or typhoons start coming past!

I will sorely miss RH when he leaves in a few months. He's done more to unite the pilots than anyone else in living memory.

Elimination of C-Scales. A thirty percent pay rise in exchange for three crew to Europe. Fix the roster. Pilot input into hotel selection, or even separate hotels for the pilots. The airline properly crewed to meet the task and provide sufficient reserve coverage. A three-monthly, one-session simulator cycle containing one 'jeopardy' item each time, the rest training to improve and maintain skills. Part time rosters for those who want them, to retain older, experienced pilots, yet save money. Fling open the bases to improve retention and save housing costs and the other HKG allowances, but administer them properly. Regular, informal get-togethers in the Gay Bar to actually meet and shoot the breeze with some of your line pilots, not just your management lackeys. If you were a pilot yourself, I would suggest the bold step of actually leading from the front by doing the odd split duty or working over a holiday, but we can't have everything.

Some of this could be conducive to your bonus.

Come on, Anna. You know you want to.

A thirty percent pay rise in exchange for three crew to Europe.
Bad idea, inflation will eat into that 30% within a few years, but you will have to fly shagged for the rest of your career.

or even separate hotels for the pilots
Are you kidding? The only reason a few of our hotels are still half-decent is that the red army still has some clout, and we slip in under their skirts as it were!

Otherwise, some good points.

Management/AT could show goodwill and turn the tide of feeling with a few strokes of the pen. A few cheap (or even win-win) examples include 25-year housing in writing (which we obtained in exchange for SLS!) and accepting the AOA's A-day proposal (which they need as much as we do). Also, immediate PXing in J when we fly Dragonair, and for the Americans when they PX on Alaska, in exchange for nothing, as these are contractual and they only weasel out of them out of petty spitefulness!

for one thing if we do end up doing 3 man Europe, PX should be at 100% duty because there is going to be a lot of Pxing going on!

Why is anyone even considering accepting 3 man to Europe
We let 5;4;3 go along with so many other degradations to our contracts for a miserly pay increase .nNEVER AGAIN !, don't even consider it under any circumstances

It was three pilots to Europe on A Scales with the Classic operation. OK, A Scales then. In a moment of folly I thought I would throw her a fricken bone.

There was a time we did 3 man to Europe BUT we stopped in BAH or Saudia for 24 hours both ways which made it a lot better. Plus we got as much as 3 days off in Europe to recover .Somewhat different today
It was the same thing with Toronto except the slip was in Anchorage
Now NY is almost a day return . So 3 man to Europe forget it

There were non-stops to London and Vancouver. The ULH crew was 3 pilots and 2 flight engineers. The Relief would be 'burnt out'. Also the Europe route was much longer, through Iran etc. The shorter China/Russia route came after the -400 arrived.

The London flight that went via BAH was a standard crew. 2 pilots and 1 F/E.

Sadly, for F/E these days, read EICAS or ECAM.
