I'd thank the company that gave too many guys unpaid leave over Xmas and NY guaranteeing rubbish rosters for others.

Sickness rate needs to go higher if they are still handing out unpaid leave. If you got called out off Christmas and are upset about it, you should have called sick too.

When, oh when, will we learn?

It's their prerogative to do so just as it's your prerogative to do the same or, choose to be the faithful company employee for that nil pay raise.

Enjoy that reserve call out with the extra dinner allowance that "Denly dunno how" gives you.

As Trafalgar says, [quote]"what if you are SICK...?"[quote]

Xmas day has always been a favourite day of mine to leg a sickie. It's almost, dare I say, a god given right! I have done it many times, and will do so many more times into the future. As for passenger and company inconvenience, stiff !!!! really, it's all about me first on this special day of the year

Good on ya boyz.. Cash it all in yourself.. Standby call outs could just have called sick themselves instead of wasting air - whining like little chickens

I think this guy is bitchin far too much....most guys are well aware of xmas/new year and tend to only go out when "TRULY ill" instead of just feeling slightly off.

Plus you do have to factor in that everyone is extremely pissed off over the pay issue.....

As for PG working doesnt surprise me.......does anyone want him around on xmas day?

Wow, thanks for that. I can assure you that my employer is tenfold the asshole I will ever be. Airlines and their executive management care only for themselves and their own well being. So why shouldn't I? Is there some unwritten code of ethics that says an asshole who works 9-5 and receives an excessive salary, bonus and other perks whilst caring about himself should be allowed to do so while I don't? I don't think so. In my airline I follow the lead of my executives, hence I believe in this - "It's not what I can do for my airline, it's what my airline can do for me"
If they want me to go back to the old days where respect, value, honesty and integrity ruled a business then the pompous turds in my company will have to take the lead in that, then I shallow follow. Otherwise it's business as usual for me and I shall continue to put myself first

Actually Jack the unwritten code of ethics says that you do not screw your fellow crew. We can all like or dislike management as we see fit, but the niceties to fellow crew is all we have left. Lets not lose that one as well.

Geh with all due respect

That is one of the most amusing posts Ive seen in a long while. Crew screwing crew is a national pastime at CX. What you described left the building a very long time ago.

Where can I start…G days, roster manipulation, volunteering, and sooo on...

Looking at another Prune thread, I'd guess some of THEM would have been glad of a Christmas callout.

I've never thrown a fake sickie but, when it did happen, it was a biggie, and CX picked up the tab for over four months.

If you want to be home for Christmas why not request a trip that gets back on the 23rd or 24th? Every roster has unpopular trips so just bid for, or request one of those, you get the 25th off and no one gets called out. Is that so difficult?

parabellum:

I take it you also never request trips over Christmas or else you would understand the impossibility of what you suggest. In fact I expect you don't work for CX.
