A Pair of brakes locked, ground down to the axle same thing occurred to a QF A380 in Sydney just over a year ago.

Never saw such a mess in the airport, they will need to review their crisis management plans

Turned out better than my pics.. though all we had was a iPhone and it was dark by then. Looks like a decent job by the EK crew. Hope they don't get the sack.

A380 Runway blockage

Given that the "super" ( think they need to change that title!!) blocked the runway for over 4 hours , along with extra staff and using one runway for landing and take-off's , it was a pretty good job to clear the backlog by 1am odd.
Crisis management? What more can be done at that time of night with one runway in operation? at least 12 diverted to other airports.
Yeah it was messy and busy - but hey ATC and Apron staff didn't block the runway ( something that is very rare throughout a year.!!!

@CXE..

EK has a habit of sacking after incidents regardless of fault or blame.
How locked brakes are a crews fault, I have no idea. What happens in minds of EK management..

How Different They Are!

EK has a habit of sacking after incidents regardless of fault or blame.
I'm so glad I don't work there. I personally prefer the CX method of dealing with these things: Don't say too much at the time, but keep it all stored in a super secret file, and then at some later date more convenient for their industrial agenda, sack a bunch of individuals (say, 49 for example) en-masse, and then refuse to tell them why they were sacked, other than "for no particular reason"

nice converstation about brake fires etc... but I would have thought the essence of the conversation better focussed on WHY they returned in the first place. Flight Control Problems. Hmmmmm now I think that is worth discussion

Big Bro,
I think you will find the destination of the flight from BKK to HKG was ....HKG. So not a return but rather an arrival.

Rodger that The DOn, I stand corrected. I happened to be airborne at the time and the radio call was for "flight control problems". I cant emagine even Emerites declaring something like that unless they had some serious issues of said nature. It will be interesting to see what comes out in the next few days. Don't they say never buy the first in a series of anything?
