Yeap - I'll go and have a look.
I'm years away from a Command with CX. I'm happy living in the desert. Back of the clock flying - that's all I'm doing at CX. No daylight lights in months. The only daylight I see is from the end of a trip to the hotel to sleep then back flying again during the night.
And with a fresh P1 endorsement on the 777 - Bob's your uncle!
If it all fails then I can come back as an iCadet - whoops we don't have those anymore.....

Seriously mate I'm not having a go, but be careful what you wish for, and the amount of generalisation and exaggeration throughout this Forum lets people get carried away with their banter, fair enough, just don't get sucked into action. CX not perfect but... the Devil you know?

Only a few guys have gone to the desert from CX, if you're reading this post could you give us an honest appraisal / comparison between life in the desert and life in the stir fry?

You will not enjoy the job any more or less in the desert. You will not fly any differently. What you WILL enjoy is a chance of command (and salary) many, many years earlier than CX. That is really the ONLY paramount difference. If that is your goal, then EK is the way to go. If not, stay with CX.

Not fussed about the flying just the time off and the roster stability.

And they are tonnes of other pointers, basically you gotta hate CX quite a bit to throw in the towel and hop over and lower your pride with the Koreans. I bet most won't last even a single contract.

I have finally done a daylight flight. Mind you it took three roster changes but I finally got it.
I always seem to be getting roster changes that really screw me over. Get to destination and there's a message for me to operate the earlier flight back the next day. Still legal but now 18 off instead of 24. Just means i get up at 1am local body clock time to start flight. Fly through night and land just as dawn is coming up.
Desert living. I love the heat, not really a cold weather person and I can speak a little Arabic. No I'm not from there, true blue Aussie, born, bred and came from Mother England roots 100's of years ago. Probably a prisoner in my family line.

Love it when everyone talks about how they think they are entitled to something better and are gonna leave because they are frustrated with this and that.....cathay pilots are famous for this....blah blah blah....most guys are so full of sh!t.....
