From: with the ex-CX pond scum (a zoologist was once head of Flight Ops)
The practice of tin-pot managers putting compulsory 'courses' onto IntraCx to be completed in crews' own time and on their own computers has to be put a stop to.

It's funny how for decades airlines existed without this tripe, but now we have to answer questions about 'which committee reports to that commitee' in order to operate wide-bodied airliners.

It is all about non-core personnel's empire-building, salary-justification and seeking cyber-fellatiation from those of us at the 'sharp end'.

I'm sure that there will be more of this to come in 2012. Look out for the required Learner's World courses covering:
  • 'Roles and Responsibilities of the Cathay City Turnstile Supervisors as they affect Flight Crew'
  • 'Flight Publications Office Hours of Operation'
  • 'Correct Filling Out of Dry Cleaning Forms' (course completion by March 2012 required for all uniformed staff)
In addition, there will be 'Pre-requisite Reading' prior to all Annual Flight Crew Medical Examinations, which will cover layover activities, effects of alcohol consumption, and not memorising the eye chart. There will also be a short questionnaire, for 2012 the topic will be the correct finger to use for signalling during the audio test.

After all that, have a merry bloody Christmas anyway.

DO NOT check “Block pop-up windows”
Sorry, but Cathay will just have to fix their system. I'm not gonna put up with pop-ups simply because Cathay is too cheap to get a proper IT department.

1. On Safari menu, Preferences > General, choose “in a new window” for feature
“Open links from applications”.
This feature is not in my General Preferences??

I'll try firefox..

it didn't work either. What is happening is a pop up window pops up for a second then disappears and nothing else happens.

I followed the rest.

Devil Revert to manual, click off the automation.

Why can you guys revert to " manual " operations? If the computer systems go kaput, click it off and do the stuff manually. I am sure all the staff and employees are really well trained in reverting to doing stuff manually, especially such a reputable company as CX. Something not right here; someone must be griping about the wrong thing.

Run to the office and get those pen pushers to provide hard copies or any documents that you need. Get ticketing to issue manual tickets, get load sheet staff to get a manual loadsheet done, etc

Have the office staff completed this SMS training package at home during they're own time or while at work? I assume they've not experienced the same issues with the computers in the office.

Make it a point that for 3 hours every working day all staff must conduct business manually, use maual loadsheet, use pen and paper sending memos...conduct all operations manually ala in the 60's so that they will always maintain 100% proficiency, efficiency and competency during time of computer or power outages.

I also did the SMS course and passed the test. Learner's world shows that I am enrolled but didn't start the course.

Moral of the story: Print or copy/paste your diploma when you get to the end.
