Sodapop may have a point. Stuck in HK and staring at life as a career FO on a base (if I can get one when/ if they re open) to gain some quality of life. To all those who took the AOA sponsored shot, well done. A good decision.
As with most things in life, you makes your choice based on the information available at the time. No good crying over spilt milk. Only time will tell.
Now, where's that lottery ticket.......?
Enjoy your summer hols and fly safe.

You start on year 4 pay on the frtr?
Year 8 F/O to year 1 freighter captain were my figures. No 19.5% there.
No pain, if you're happy earning a lot less than a pax captain for the same job, good for you.
Come negotiations, will your pay go up or will B scale go down?

You are on year 4 frtr cn if you moved left in your second year as an FO. Hence the year 6 FO scale compared to the year 4 frtr CN scale.
Is it really that difficult to figure out?
Anyway, just did the calcs for your comparison; a year 8 FO going left to a year 1 frtr CN and it's still nearly a 12% pay rise (on the Euro salary).
Mathematics is not an opinion brother.
PS: negotiations? didn't we just do that?
PSS: as an 8-yr FO, you're right that it wouldn't make much sense to go for a frtr command. But, that's why the 2-yr FOs got the opportunity, right?

If you compare the pay to what you have to do in order to get it, then a Pax F/O is actually on a better deal. An average roster on a base results in about 18 days off, in July 20. Add 4 man ops , no Mumbai and daylight/evening body clock flights, which I think makes an enormous difference.
Plus many guys accepted a less desirable base just to get the position and are now stuck with a commute and £ pay...
To all those freighter CNs who actually do enjoy it, no hard feelings, it was open to everybody, fair enough.

Can we bring this whole freighter captain saga to an end please.
Absolutely everything has been said and digested, re-puked re-digested ect......
I notice it's mainly brought up by jealous people who are unhappy with whatever
decision they made and I mean either or.
Write to your CP, AOA or CX CEO instead if you have any outstanding issues or a small 'wiener'
As per thread
I put my money on Mexico City, and an expansion over the Atlantic.
Pax: Either Madrid, Barcelona, Munich and maybe Zurich again in 2012.
Double daily Chicago.

....the real issue here is simply that the company/management have managed to screw up this place to such a degree that no one really knows anymore what constitutes a 'good career decision'. To so effectively piss off almost 3000 people is a good indicator of how 'competent' our management is. No point fighting amongst ourselves. We know who the real enemy is. If you still don't....I suggest you go and purchase a certain 'best seller' from Dymocks.
