New Freighter Destination & Patterns.
New destination:
Hong Kong-Delhi-Bengaluru-Hong Kong Great Circle Mapper New Pattern: Chennai - Frankfurt Cathay Pacific Extends Freighter Network with Launch of New Service to Bengaluru. Cathay Pacific Airways today announced that it will further extend its freighter network with the launch of a new service to Bengaluru (Bangalore) in India. The twice-weekly service commences on 1 August and will operate every Monday and Thursday on a Hong Kong-Delhi-Bengaluru-Hong Kong routing. The launch of the new service, operated by Boeing 747-400F aircraft, will reinforce Cathay Pacific's position as one of the biggest freighter operators in India, with 20 flights a week to, from or through four major commercial cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and now Bengaluru. For flights into Bengaluru, the airline expects to see strong interest from China and countries in Northeast Asia for shipments of computers, computer components, high-value electronic goods, integrated circuits/semi-conductors and garments. The main markets out of Bengaluru will be Japan and North America, with shipments of cars, auto parts, pharmaceuticals, garments and textiles. Cathay Pacific Director Cargo Nick Rhodes said: "India is an increasingly important market for our cargo business and we are pleased to be able to extend our coverage in the country through the launch of a freighter service to Bengaluru. This new service will enhance Cathay's presence in India." In addition to the new destination, Cathay Pacific also recently boosted cargo ties between India and Europe by launching a twice-weekly direct freighter service from Chennai to Frankfurt. The freighters continue onwards to either Manchester or Brussels, providing access to three European destinations from South India. Cathay Pacific is one of the world's biggest airfreight operators with a strong commitment to developing its home city, Hong Kong, as a major international cargo hub. In addition to strengthening its freighter network and fleet, the airline is also building a HK$5.5 billion cargo terminal at Hong Kong International Airport, due to open in early 2013. |

Great!!! I forsee Del - Blr - Hkg through the night with 2 Hong Kong based crew coming up!!!
|
When's the 777F order coming? :D
|
This is not expansion loads are declining and they need to fill capacity meaning changing routes new destinations
Some may have noticed rerouting of various freighters |
4 crew HKG based "day trip"!
|
Perhaps those declining loads have something to do with an ever increasing amount of CX general freight getting on AHK and ACC. We know without doubt that CX freight is flying on ex-Cathay, now AHK BCFs to SIN and NRT (PVG starts later this summer for AHK). Does anyone doubt that loads to and from PVG will further decrease as ACC grows? The bigger question, does anyone care? What a sorry pilot group we are! We do nothing while the company starts ASL version 2 and 3 right before our eyes. They could probably fire another 49 pilots and most would still pitch up for work the next day.

Maybe its the beer at Stauntons, but i do get bored with this stuff. I actually like India night stops, give me curry any day over a US overnight and fat filled plates thats spilling over the edge. I spend most time in the US, I am not keen the place, the food is **** and its a third world port ( lets hope for my American friends it improves). So India is fine.
I will take 72 hours in India over 12 hours in the US:D Hurry with a curry, and dry fart is a good fart:ok: |
I guess this means that KA will no longer be flying to Bengaluru?
|
CX seams to be expending their freighter ops, at KA's expense. Everyone, remember what happened to KA freighter back in 2009. Nothing new here. :\:=
|
Amazing how it takes 5 minutes to come up with **** new destinations, yet for years we can't seem to add anything good. Yeah, ok, KORD.

According to Crew Control, this new pattern will be hotly contested in the request system. The pattern, known amongst the crews as "The Spice Route" due to it's luxurious destinations, will have not have overnights, but will be a new ultra-heavy-crew day trip from HKG.
|
Well, good for you, however, if you read the post by cxorcist, his thrust is about management's attempts to impose ASL mk 2 & 3 on us. AOA raved on about what a wonderful opportunity it was to get command, without having to wait years on the pax fleet, end result, everyone happy. Didn't see any imposition. |
Yes Stillalbatross you are right! Now we will hear from freighter captains saying " but it was available to everyone, let's put a stop to talk about out of seniority commands because anyone could have applied for it !!" I know I know, it's no problem to fly the same plane for way less money, just winge about it later and all will be ok!. I especially love the frequent poster on the AoA forum comparing it to a command in an undesirable city in the US. Difference here budddy is it is not about the base it is about you attempting a command on the same airplane for way less money on the same base, don't tell me that would wash in the states. opinions?????

Common Type?
I'm hearing rumours that the CAD may not allow the 8 to be a common type with the 44! Anyone else heard this? Seems unlikely to me but that would stir things up a bit.

Freighter commands, that old chestnut
Actually Chards and Stillalbatross, assuming you're an F/O on a base not willing to come to HKG for some reason (and thus not able to take advantage of housing), a freighter command would normally be a payrise as well as a promotion: more money and command directly on your base = win for anyone not willing to relocate to HKG.
Back on topic, anyone knows how this pattern will work: crew change in Delhi I imagine? More DEL overnights oh joy :} |
I have heard those rumours as well Silver. I think the pattern is way to long for 4 crew to do it aka (Hkg -Dac- Han-Hkg) and will entail an overnight in Del and then probably a blast through the night to Blr and then Hkg. If it is anything like the Mumbai, Chennai then it will be absoloutley exhausting for Hkg based crews.

No doubt because of freighter pay my days of getting a payrise are also about to come to a halt. Why pay A scale, guys will take B, why pay B scale, guys will take Freighter pay. You take what suits you, it's what we all do. |
Just to clarify an existing position:
Unified FO Euro year 6 107,808 (misread the scales previously) frtr CN year 4 133,860 = 19,5 % pay difference + keeping base instead of moving to Hkg for the rest of the foreseeable future = priceless. I will refrain from any other frtr cn comments as they have already been hammered to death. Please stop the pain. |
