While you can't deny that CX do do a lot for the community (I can Fly, teaching English, large donations to natural disaster victims etc..) the mere fact that there are so many court cases...so many articles in the media about employee gripes and yesterday's demonstration by the FAU should be enough to put off any organisation giving this award to the airline...unless it has come from a Swire award or something!

Ok, so for those who haven't been in HKG long enough to realise how much backslapping goes on:
- The Caring Company Award PLC - a 'steering commitee' of "300 NGO's" gives the award as long as you gave $100 to some charity - or - you are in the same club(!)
- Cathay Pacific - in the same club....

Why should any of you be surprised? That Caring Award is for companies that contribute in some positive way to EXTERNAL improvements in social welfare and general well-being of society. It does not cover how a company treats it's INTERNAL affairs, like employee relations. So a company may theortically treat it's employees like slave labour and it can still win the caring award if it is willing to spend some $$$ for certain charitable purposes for public PR purposes. Blatant double standard? Hypocrisy? Yes, the total caring award does mention about "caring for the well-being of the community, their employees and the environment."
But, you are not so naive as to really believe the award put much if any emphasis on the "employees" part?
And if you think CX is bad, let's not mention HKA...
