Take a bow China; An unqualified triumph capped on the final day by a Chinese gold, silver and bronze all from the one event. An occasion of special merit that had three proud young ladies singing their national athem in unison as three identical red flags rose together above the rostrum. A magical moment and a fitting climax that somehow said it all.
There are those who will call it a Pyrrhic victory but they are wrong. To China it is affordable, something the British will be hard pressed to say in four years' time.

Of course we would never again hear from 828a. But at least he will finally realize that there are more important things in life than flashy Olympic ceremonies and cheating with 14 year old athletes to make a statement of how great your country supposedly is. But then again, what do you expect from a country that drives tanks over it's own peaceful protesters.

A great article published yesterday in the Melbourne Age.
London's will be an Olympics of cock-ups, but a lot more fun | theage.com.au
It great summary I reckon.
I look forward to the London Games - they will have REAL l atmosphere and huge attendances of people not hand selected by the state - I think it will be a fun time for London and a friendly style of olympics , like Sydney.
I hear this morning that Scotland wants to field it's own Olympic team for 2012.
Also heard this morning that if medal performances were based on a country's GDP the North Korea would have won easily with countries like the Bahamas also doing well.
Also , on population , the state of Queensland would have easily beaten the whole of England , as would have the state of Victoria.
It seems that no matter where you live you can find a statistical basis for a fine performance by your team.

You mean like peaceful Tibet? Oh wait a minute, those are someone else's ancestors, well actually it is present day. Here is a bow to the Dalai Lama. The man of peace in the face of brutal suppression.
Prepare to start puking.

PARANOIA
a disorder in which a person becomes overly suspicious and emotionally sensitive
A tendency to view the actions of others as deliberately threatening or demeaning; suspicious thinking based on misinterpretation of an actual event.
a disease-like state, characterized mainly with abnormal suspiciousness and crazy ideas
A general term for delusions of persecution, grandeur, or both, found in several pathological conditions. Essentially, a person believes his/her difficulties are intentionally caused by others. It can be produced by large doses of certain drugs, such as cocaine and alcohol.
Any of you clowns in the Aviator while you write your posts??
I find the alcohol helps.....
