I've been following your postings from the other side of the world, no job so far, but would like to hear some 2011 HKA news.
Got an interview in March. Any advice?

Thanks guys !

Cheers

Good luck with your interview, don't believe everything you read on this thread. And have fun in HK, it's an exciting city.

Anyone knows the salary package for HKA?
Will a captain on a A330/A340 take home HK$100,000 or more?

Thanks.

etrang,
Your location is uk soI wonder; do you work for HKA or have good knowledge of what it's like to work at HKA?
I expect if you did you would not be wishing good luck to those going for an interview at HKA. Certainly not all on pprune is reliable but with this number of postings, by this number of names, even if 10% is true it tells you that not to join this airline is the best luck.

Callme2day, I suggest you get etrangs details so when you get hired and find that most of the stuff here is true, when you are sitting in your room out in " the ghetto " of Hong Kong for 6 months while the idiots you work for try to organise a p*ss up in a brewery, looking out the window through 5K vis in pollution, you can use all your spare time to contact him and hurl abuse at him.

Etrang: I do appreciate your good wishes, I love my family but we all need a break! I will sure enjoy the trip.
Kate62 and hongkongfoey: I consider myself a positive thinker even in worst case scenarios, I want to stay that way, I’m open to all recommendations that’s the reason I joined this forum, also appreciate your comments.
I want to try the waters and hopefully will get a better picture after the interview, I can always laugh at what they offer as you said before.
But first things first; good wishes and company overviews are always welcome but I really need your interview tips, sim check recommendations and what’s the medical like.

Thanks Again!

Callme2day

You have a good attitude towards life! With this you will go far in your career and life. Keep it up good chap. Wish you well.

As for Hongkongfoey ; don't woryy about him... probably his got an axe to grind with HKA. Feel sorry for the company he works with. Its goes to show as this person moves on, he'll be bad mouthing his previous companies.

Safe flying!

I'm sorry, but you really are a sad tool. There are 100s of posts and posters on this thread, It is by far the longest and most negative thread about any airline in the world, and if anyone is stupid enough to think that all of this is just disgruntled ex-employees, then they deserve everything they get

Callme, all the positive thinking in the world will not change HKA, nor the fact that once you move your family and all your stuff here its pretty much too late, and don't forget the gas masks.
Good luck

I assume vertigo has had some experience flying for hka, thats why he's sticking his nose in here?

No-one has a "grind" with hka, only truths and warnings for others.

You will always get moaners no matter what the circumstances and you will always get guys who are blindly optimistic but don't let them distract from the masses that are posting similiar negative postings about their experiences at HKA.

We could start talking about the sackings, the lies, the changing of contracts and much more, which are all covered in this thread, but one fact should say it all: in the second half of 2007 there were 92 pilots at HKA. Of those pilots only 4 are still there. Says it all really.

No enforceable bond.

Everyone gets a rating and leaves within a few months due to the sh*ttyness of the company.

If you can get in, get a type and some time and leave in a month or two, go for it.

Anyone thinking of doing this, bear in mind that from day 1 it wil take about 6 months to get the rating on your licence, and about another year to get 500 hrs, thats 18 months of hard time in HK with little money and little annual leave

and Akali....Fooey to you go and have another curry and maybe comment on something you actually have a clue about rather than an operation in another country.

sounds easy to solve the problem by hiring new TRE but it wont happen this way.

how about asking HKE for help? are there any TRE at HKE that are qualified and able to shift to HKA during the absent of the current TRE?

getting paid but on leave... doesnt sound too good unless he's allowed to have another job during that period.
