Expect a psyc-eval by HR, an interview with HR and Flight-Ops as well as Airborne or Direct people as well as in some cases a sim.
Nothing really drastic. Nothing to be too worried about and nothing really that you can prepare for.

Thanks Atlanta Driver,
Sounds fair enough about the interview !
I have been told that the conditions are very bad.
What is the salary like for captains ?
Do you get staff travel etc....
How many days/hours do you fly as an average ?
Are there still jobs available on the 400 ?
Any more information is more then welcome.

Hi there
Conditions are pretty much what you make it. Bad? I'd say not.
This job can be a lot of fun. However if you have a big family and expect to spend every weekend with them back in your home country, say in Sweden then this is not for you.
But if you enjoy flying around the globe going to places that one has never heard of beofe, you might have good time.
Some guys absolutely hate the job, obviously I like it here as do most of the people.
The variety of cultures and different nationalities (55 last Hajj I was told) is another nice thing. Most I've ever flown has been 15 different nationalities in one crew.
Salary for Captain during the first year is 250 USD a day and 100 USD per hour overtime after 75 hours.
You can expect to fly 75 hours a month based on a 900 hour early max. Meaning that some months you get overtime and some months you do not.
Staff travel, well not as in IATA carrier we hae no ID ticketing system in place, But you can ride on our aircraft of the network that spas the whole globe. All continents covered.
As far as I know company is still looking people for the -400 to be based in MAD.

Hi Atlanta Driver,
Very interesting !
The job itself and the travelling around sounds ok but the salary is still a bit unclear to me. Is 250 USD paid per flying day or per duty day ? How many days are you away per month ? So, in other words, what is an average monthly salary ? And what after the first year, how much do you get then ?
Thanks for being so helpful !

Air Atlanta interview
Hello capt rednose
The interviews are very basic. I have just been to the asessment at Gatwick last 2 days. Very relaxed.
They start with an intro trailer about the company.
After that you get a 20 question tecknical questioner. They said we had 1.5 hours, but if we needed more it was ok. No one did. It is all very basic things like:
What is Vmu
wgat alt is pressure 300mb
what does Vmcdo as you climb
what is Vso
What is tha capital of Island
What does JAR stand for. (Not Jamaican air or Japan aviation reg) It is the European thing.
What happens to TAS when decending on constant Machnumber
What is pressure alt at airport when pressure is xxxx mb
Calkulate top of decenty when given airspeed, tailwind and point to be at cleared alt.
Calculate payload when given MTOW, MLDW, MZFW, PERF LIMITED TOW, Fuelburn per engine and taxi fuel per engine in liters.
All very basic things. If you have Jet experience you do not have to do a sim check. The Interview itself is 20 min and very friendly. Nothing to worry about.
Tell them about yourself, why Air Atlanta , what your friends would say about you and ask questions.
Good luck

Be careful. There is a big difference between Air Atlanta Iceland and Air Atlanta Europe. In AAI you work as a contractor. You have a say when you want to go home, when you want leave etc.,but then you don't get paid.If you are sick you don't get paid too. When you are paid it is 'off shore' in US $,so it could be tax free. You get overtime if you do more than 75 hours in a callender month. You get given free accomodation(hotel or flat) at your base plus tranport to and from the airport. You get given airline tickets home, even if it's Australia. You get incremental pay after you have worked a full year(ie 365 days on).The downside is you may be sent anywhere in world the contracts are,and at short notice.
In AAE,you get a fixed wage for 900hours per year..no effective overtime(£300 for a captain if called to work whilst on a day off,if called to work on a day off the day before..no £300).You get £2 per hour flying duty..not for gnd school or sim.You pay UK NI tax and the tax authorities know you are on payroll(deducted at source). You only get 28 days off per year.If you live in Europe,ie fairly close, you pay your own fare home and back..and the most days off in a row is usually 3.You have to provide your own transport and accom. The upside is you are based in the UK and will not be sent off to Timbuctou by some nerd in Iceland.
Some who have joined AAE from other European countries are regretting not going to AAI.Both AAI and AAE are recruiting.

One of the best parts has been working with all the different nationalities and backgrounds and being able to crisscross all around the world. For me the upside is that I am NOT based in UK.
I pay no taxes either as I am a "Resident" of an outside EU country. Also I have been on overtime 4 months out of 5 this year.
People are with Atlanta for various reason and for me AAI has been the prefect solution and worked out just well. I do not regret a bit leaving my last job.

Just as a quick aside - I work for Islandsflug - part of the Air Atlanta group. I am trying to find out about the Air Atlanta pilots website (bit like pprune) - anyone have any info?
Yes - I could contact them direct - but I think it will be quicker this way!!!!

Hi all AAI hopefuls.
Can you afford to sit at home for long periods at a time, not being paid, through no fault of your own, without any coherent explaination??
If your answer is yes, then the job is for you. Good luck.
If no, and you have another job to go to, or are in employment, my advise is, keep well away.

Due to the amount of training, some crewmembers have been sitting home and waiting slots in the sim as well as line training. System is a bit bcked up, but give it a few months and it'll get better.
However those that are line qualified need not fear, No need to sit home without pay. There's as much work as one can do.

Rumour has it that Air Atlanta Europe is requiring a bond for three years even though you have the rating and need the minimum of training. They are doing this because so many people are joining and then leaving within a few months.Roster disruption is one of the biggest problems.
