Flying Instructors & Examiners A place for instructors to communicate with one another because some of them get a bit tired of the attitude that instructing is the lowest form of aviation, as seems to prevail on some of the other forums!

FAA Instructor near cambridge wanted.

OK have no idea why my previous post was deleted, can the person that deleted it please explain??????

I have the use of an N reg 150 and am looking to do a BFR. Can anyone help? Saw one reply but the thread was deleted before I took down the details, probably deleted by some jobsworth who thinks he is the internet police and just gets rid of threads because he can, seriously get a life.

not that it matters that much, you don't need a N reg aircraft for BFR's just FYI

Yeah I know but unfortunatly none of my friends have G reg ones. There are issues with doing it in an N reg though so said that as some people may care some may not. I personally would do a BFR for someone in an N reg plane they did not own because think the rule is dumb and has nothing to do with my pilots licenses, it is a department of transport thing so they can stick it up their a**. I know some will say blah blah blah about that but a plane is a plane and as far as the FAA are concerned it is OK and as I am not running a business if someone said hey can you do this for me I would say of course as I am a nice guy :-)

If I was advertising to do BFR's in the UK in an N reg then OK there is an issue but I am not. May sound like I am now but no way, I can't be bothered and hate instructing, if someone can do a BFR for me I could do the same for them but thats it. If you dont need a BFR I will pay you. If this gets deleted this forum is crazy. Do you call that advertising which is why I think my first thread got deleted, should I pay to have a banner asking for an FAA instructor near cambridge to do me a bfr? Please someone explain why my first thread was deleted asking this?

No, but I was wondering if there was someone that wanted to do it. What is wrong with asking that. I could do it in southend, i could do it in Cambridge, I could do it in Norwich, I am wondering if there is anyone who can do a BFR in a private aircraft near Cambridge. The thing that really annoys me is schools in the UK. That place you posted a link for is 150 pounds for a BFR, that is two hours work for someone not including the aircraft for 150 pounds. Seriously, probably some inexperienced instructor getting paid 10 pounds an hour but I pay 150. I would prefer to give someone 80 pounds for a BFR in an aircraft I provide, I save money, they make money, what is wrong with that? I don't care if they are inexperienced or know what they are doing I just need someone to sit next to me for an hour and then sign my logbook..

Noticed you are from the US, if you did not know 150 pounds is US$230. That is for the instruction ONLY not aircraft.

I won't get into the pricing, but the above statement shows a fundamental lack of understanding of an FAA BFR.

I knew I would get some flack for that. I do understand what an FAA BFR is and if I flew once a month I would agree with you. The reason I want my US license current again is so that I can do a BFR for a couple of people who fly every day in the same aircraft, about 600 hours a year. This aircraft is a twin turboprop that I have almost 1000 hours in so am OK to instruct in it as the FAA requires 5 hours in type if it is a twin. Now these guys could go to Norwich and do a BFR at 150 pounds a go in a C150 or PA28, what has that got to do in any way with the flying they do? Or I can get a BFR done in a C150 and then do their BFR's in the plane they fly every day and which I have a lot of hours in. Granted I have not flown that plane in a few months but it is a damn site better than them doing it in a light single that they dont fly. I get checked every 6 months on another license and if I was flying in the US it would count for light aircraft also but I am not so my FAA license is not current. All I need is for someone to sit next to me for an hour and sign my logbook. Yes it is up the the instructor if they decide to sign it or not however experienced or inexperienced they are but I am willing to take my chances that I will get through a BFR.

If you ask around, plenty places have at least one dual rated FI and will do BFRs and IPCs for normal dual training rates, and no special sign-off fees - North London Flying School at Panshanger might be nearest for Cambridge.
