From this graphic, it could be the region of Crew Rest Area under that position.
Is the rest area location consistent across all variants?

I think the issue with this plane is not only to repair the burn damage but also to have it cleaned from any foam residue.
AFFF is quite nasty stuff which will do quite some damage and it seems that they dozed nearly the whole plane with foam.
Depending on the damage inside the plane I think we could see the first hull loss of the 787...

Where is the fix located?
Where is the Boeing fix located on the airplane? Is it in that same area as the burned area?
If not, we could be talking an entirely different issue like a galley fire or crew rest area fire....

Well lets hope for Boeings sake it isn't a battery issue. But to scorch the outside of the hull it must of got VERY hot inside! We don't know if the cabin is damaged yet.

I don't have a CLG for a 787, but that is in the area Boeing likes to put the ELT, and the aft antenna looks like it could be an ELT antenna.
FWIW: Every time I've ordered a 406 ELT it has to come ground. Something about the battery being haz-mat or a fire danger (lithium)

Absolutely no chance. In the extremely unlikely event of this a/c being beyond economic repair, Boeing would still repair it in order to retain the no hull loss record.

Unbelievable!!!!! If I am not mistaken, Ethiopian conducted its own repairs on its 787 fleet and got them into the air the quickest of any airline.
These weren't 'repairs', they were modifications and were carried out by Boeing, Thales and Securaplane engineers.

Battery located in aft electronics bay wherever that is?
There are other subsystems with their own batteries, such as emergency lighting. Those are located in various other places, possibly near this damage. But I think its too early to blame a battery yet.

787 SERIES. 787.0.7. AIRPLANE RESCUE AND FIRE FIGHTING INFORMATION
Shows no battery in area of damage, and no flammable materials, but it does match 'OVERHEAD FLIGHT ATTENDANT REST AREA' pretty much exactly.

Its a little odd. No crew or pax on board, I am assuming all systems were off and still something just ignites by itself.....
Lets wait a little to see what it was. They will know pretty soon what coused it.
