ADOC - a huge step backwards?
Anyone have any experience with ADOC? QF has recently implimented this system, and it is causing nothing but headaches for engineers. I conducted a little experiment today. After 20 minutes of attempting to search through ADOC for a wire number, I turned to the good old Boeing PDF files on CD rom and found the wire details in around 30 seconds!
We have had endless problems with incomplete print-outs, (eg "Select the fuel control lever to the"..... and thats where it ends! The text "cutoff position" appears on the computer screen, but when printed on paper, it mysteriously disappears!)
CASA should have a field day with this one.

Nope, we still use pdfs for the Boeing stuff at the moment.
We did switch to Airn@v for the Airbus stuff though a while back and it caused some very similar teething problems to those mentioned above!
Now we're used to it's foibles it's a cracking system.
Is this a Boeing thing or a QF thing? Interested to know a bit more 'cause if it's coming from Boeing no doubt we'll be landed with it sooner or later.

ADOC
Works ok on the A330....it is basically an airbus tool but look around Air Canada has used on their fleet also boeing airplanes. I like the fact that you can easily select the airplane rego and what ever you look at supposively should be applicable to that model/rego.
As QF B767 ADOC I have not dealt much with but as for the QF A330 manual I have not encountered printing problems. I guess sometimes the print is so small due to we do not have an A3 printer, but hey I must be in an AOG situation to start looking at wiring diagrams... so who really cares about time to a point.
Try checking you printer properties to get the whole print.

Yeah, it's loosely based on airn@v. From what I have heard, airn@v is much better. (I don't have anything to do with the A330s yet). we have around 50PCs in the Brissy facility and around 10 printers that are used for documentations access. The problems with words missing seem to be on PCs with IE5 installed. (PCs with IE6 dont have the problem apparently).
I just found it a whole lot faster and easier to open a PDF and keyword search for what I needed.
Airbus seems to have added their own touches to the Boeing manuals. Had a funny one the other day when assembling a generator terminal block on a CF6. Something like this...
"Make sure the square washers are fitted below the terminal straps.
CAUTION. The square washers must be installed under the terminal straps otherwise overheating may occur.
Install the square washers below the terminal straps.
Make sure that the square washers are installed below the terminal straps"
Looks like airbus technical writers have a case of OCD!
