Ah, the "Campdog and the Pups" era. RIP Fatso the wonder dog. Youpla sabe "You no Gateway customer - you Wongai customer!!!" Ah the memories come flooding back. I'll never be able to thank campdog enough for the night endoresment on the nude night dam jump. Vidgen Creek in the wet. Kubin Bash 2000. The original Bongo CSU. Freaka singing Bound for Darnley at every party. The list goes on and on. The most memorable days of my life - and the best mates for life made. Yawo.

Brangas is flying for Air Mount Isa on the Bandit last time I heard and Kristin last I heard was still going out with Freaker who is in Qantas I do belive so the're probably in Sydney.
Does anyone know where Apu is, circa 2001. Heard he got into Cathy but it was all during the recruitment ban period.

3 years of my life...taken by the 'Straits.. but it was all good (mostly).

Freaker and Canadian chick no more...

Brangus is indeed in YBMA

My memories...truuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.

Bongovan, Damnjumping, Eddie, Chester, and Midsy.

Had probably the best time of my life up there, even though I hated every minute of it. (know what I mean?)

Flying Mechanic summed it up quite well.

The story I remember best is the one where 5 pilots stayed up all night drinking, whilst I went to bed due to early departure. Wake up 6am , five pilots strewn about house, kitchen looks like it has been hit by bomb. Smell of gas throughout whole house. Flying mechanic does drunken fryup and forgets to actually light up all the stoves rings. Here is me standing in kitchen with cigerrette in mouth and smells gas... / RUNS!!! Windows open, doors open, yelling for everyone to get out. Flying mechanic rubs eyes and sez "oh sorry mon..."

Good mates! -> Deefa, Dengue, Licorice, Onions, Hairy, Freaker, Gay Mike, Lippy, Doogie, Nadsy, Wal, Mabuig Pete, Supes, Flogger, The Erwins, BP Dave (LEGEND), an all dem other ballas I be forget.

Yawol !

G'day Tigers,
Great thread, nothing like G.M and Cocko's B@lls on the end of the pool table at the Gateway to help play a pool shot,
how many people can you put in the bongovan for a midnight dam run,
what do we think of Krus?
Kus telling one of the teacher chicks about how many times he's cheated on his girlfriend while standing nude in the dam.
Sailor Dan speaks for himself - steady steady
And who could forget the mighty floor sliding - beer 'n' pizza night.
Great memories. Great Bulla's
Flying mechanic, drop us an email.

My time in the straits still has been the best flying that I have done to date. Sliding the van down Mabuiag sideways in the wet with terrified punters sitting in the back. Having to overfly Coconut & Yorke Island after picking up Big Ben from Darnley at Warraber, thus blowing out the landing weight options in the van. The nasty wench that I kept me warm at night & current. All the lads, my best memory was of the morning I had harsh words with Coastwatch 246 on MBZ due to engine runups in the parking bay. Who can forget Milo!, the heavy Twin Driver(caution wake turbulance), paties at King Point, trips to Cable bay, fishing on WANTOK with Johno the bag snatcher, Pembo at UZU, & Bob god on Horn Island? Some of you I believe will be coming to a new paradise for new adventures. How is my old mate Rob from mobil. If anyone has his email address please send it to me. Im glad I only did the dam jump once that was enough. The best flying & fun I have had, even flying Moneymaker 1 & 2. Life was good & simple. Good nights at Robs house with Sad, APU, Carey & Cocko then driving through the bush tracks near king point being freaked out by animals & noises. You had to be there.

Yeh but Cleatus, you couldn't knock 246's breasts!!!! Cmon mate- for Horny Island (Dixter quote) boys - it was gooooooooood, especially the pre-flight in the white t-shirt!!
But have to agree with you - best flying yet. Ask any of the boys (most of them) who are now on 744's, they miss the good ol' days!!
Really miss getting kicked out of the Gateway though. No matter what you said to that woman, she would not serve you a drink after 12pm. I don't think she appreciated the pool table pockets getting pissed in either. Go figure.
Brucie the copper would always look after you too. Always keen for a "yarn or two". What about Raewyn's sausage rolls, and the deep fried salami - yuuuuuummmmmm. Always a good night at BP Daves, even if he did go for the Bombers!!!!
What I also found amazing is that every car on the island magically turned into a four wheel drive once it arrived there. The Troppos dunnydore has to be the quickest car there. And who can forget the CATVAN - after many broken windows (Zooey!) it still powered on!
You cant fully explain, and words don't justify, the times had up there. I'm sure all who did their time up there and are reading this agree that it was such a unique experience, living in each others pockets, working for different companies, but such a comaraderie that is, and never will be fathomable anywhere else. You were forced to live with thirty other blokes who you never met before, but at the end of the day, got on like long lost brothers. We were brought together by death, friendships, poor living conditions, whether you'd be alive at the end of the day, **** poor weather, short strips, Mermaids visits, such different personalities, that we made it work. We were all brothers on the same mission. Fair enough, the companies were in competition, but we were there for each other - something I believe we will never experience again. Or somethin!

God help me..........
I miss those d$*k women........................

Ha ha crazy times, for all those still in NQ I have it on good authority that the will be a "gathering" this w'end. Refer Dick, Defa or Freaker. Won't be there, fright for Freak havin another

Yeah it was the best times ever. The mates, the parties, the gateway, the dam jump, the new years at Port Douglas and how many people did we fit in the white bongo van that night ? It is all good.

- It was first light on Horn Island and the cloud was grey as slate........

Howdy cleatus, it seems from your more recent emails that you might soon end up with a lot more of your Torres Straits mates keeping you company in that "New Paradise" you mention.

I thought that you said that you rarely ever go on Pprune....Liar

To all those unfortunate enough to know our mutual friend cleatus, how about some good stories on his days back in the staits...he only ever tells us the tame stuff & I'd love to get some goss!

Bring it on.
