Chuck. You mentioned a picture of a 44 year old McChook. Interesting. I thought he was always an old b@stard!

He could fly. I guess it was his Kiwi blood that caused the conflict?

Anyone remember his party trick on how to dispose of light bulbs and beer glasses?? He ate them!

And Milsey .......

"Milsey, why did you let that b@stard ....... fly the Bandit if you knew he was p!ssed"

"Why not? I've seen him fly in worse condition!"

Some one mentioned another Porter prang at another PNG strip. I thought there was only two civil PC6 Porter prangs in PNG, the ****** prang in the Gulf and when M.. P..... ground looped at Karimui whilst endorsing Foggs?

(Edited as the auto censor deleted a PNG Operator's name! The censored PNG operator was M @ C @ I R, not even a distant pr!ck relative of any other aviation operator of the same name, any where else in the world - or in Australia!)

I still think that piksa is Omkalia. I see Windy agrees. (Windy, check your email for Capt Vegemite's tue identity.....).

I have thunk out the date thing on the picha of Omkali.
It was a new feature on cameras 20 years back and the guy taken the photty was a klutz like me and didnt have small son to figger out how to set date properly.
Hence it was on 1998...not 78?
I read a lot a detective books and am very good at this stuff.

No worries. A "flaming 44 night". Sounds good. Hope you are talking about the "drum" type and not one of Mr Robinson's finest!

Ozexpat ... Yeah bloke, you can stick those piccies back up if you like. Can't remember what i sent but there may be some of use for 'Guess the Goat track' At least i'll stand a fair chance of winning What's the prize? (he asks foolishly)

HJ ... hopefully one Alistair is allowed

Penance ... nice poem bloke, you wouldn't have done some penance from Thielly by any chance for tying one of cessnas finest into a ball at Garaina Now there is a story for those of you who know Garaina.

Penance... the ditty sounds about right mate! I see that Alistair has already rumbled you too! So now ya gotta tell all about Garaina!

Veg... good to see that you've discovered the FotoTime site mate! It feels sooo good to know that I'm no longer alone! Such a pity that Chuck identified the location so fast!

Alistair... will do. It'll take a few days because I'm a tad busy in my real life, but hope to have them up on the weekend. As for the competition prize ... it consists of kudos PLUS commiserations for having to have led such an unsheltered life!

And now for an update...

HJ has undertaken to send me some more photos from his collection. If they're even half as good as the ones I've got right now, they'll certainly be worth waiting for. I'll hold off uploading until I've got them all - he reckons I'll get them by tomorrow evening, so we won't have to wait very long for them.

I'll create a gallery for him on my site and post the URL here. I will also identify the photos that qualify for the "Guess the Goat Track" comp. Geez, Chuck, I suspect you've created an unmanageable monster by suggesting this competition, not to mention the catchy name, of course!

The same young Lad at Garaina
Musta had a certain angina,
As he landed on the end
made up a bend
now known as the Blinder of Garaina!!

No more "peotry", i promise

Alistair, did you not get the box of Fidel's Finest i sent ya? I guess thats probably because i never sent them I think that if any case of cubanas was forthcoming it would have been to Leon for his fantastic work with elastic or our esteemed leader Lurch for not removing one young Penance's gizzard through his left nostril for that hienous act Don't you agree? Besides, Penance came much earlier... ask Smelley, and i'm not posting anything (more) on Pprune about that!! The censors'd have a field day

Wow, the peotry literally dribbles from my fingers... emphasis on the "dribbles"...

ON ON!!!!

lurch mate, I never realised that you were on here. When ya gunna be in Port Morbid next?

Chuck... okay, fair enuf, I'll end the suspense. The information given to me - no, I've never been to this place and doubt that I've ever even seen it (must go around with me eyes shut ... always the safest way, o' course! ) - says that this particular "Goat Track" is .... drum roll for effect ...

Guwasa! (Farkin where???? )

Alistair... just received the extra photos for yer collection but haven't had time to peruse them yet. I may have a problem with captions for the original group, but will get back to you on that, if my record system is up to sh*t.

Penance... yeah, I had an idea that Garaina was an old DC3 strip, so length shouldn't have been a problem! Ya sure turned in a blinda at Garaina, dude! Good sh*t. You were lucky to have such a good boss as Lurch!

If HJ is still monitoring this thread, can you let me have captions to post with each of the photos you've already sent, plus those that are yet to be sent. Ta!

Guwasa?

The name rings a VERY vague bell..........I have a feeling it was under coonstruction when I was based Chimbu.......but could be wrong.

So come on...........more please.....we're losing our momentum

Vege...re ANO 28 exemptions......I remember another TALAIR pilot going somewhere or other and a right seat pax(who must've been a little cooncerned) asked him if he knew where they were?

"NO!!! but I have an ANO 28 exemption......I'm licenced to be lost!"

Or the chap who ended up over the border in Irian Jaya west of Green river who was buzzed by an Indon fighter of some description.

Over the area VHF "Hey guys what do I do?"

Anonymous reply "Shut up and die like a man!"

Another anonymous reply "Turn inside him and go to guns!"

Helpful lot He scooted east until the fighter left him alone apparently.

Chuckles.

Ahhh..Green River is very close to Yellow River.
Capt Max arrives Green River cancels SAR.
"Masta dipela place emi Yellow ribber"
Chit! says our hero"Wewak taxiing Green river for 10 minute survey"
Arrives at the real Green River cancels SAR.
No wonder the wreckage was hard to find sometimes.

Very true Capt. Vege

Windy, MARPRICK can sometimes be wet and greasy but it's certainly best when its firm...

Oz what sort of captions for the piccies? The files i sent are named (thanks to my photo album and forethought!!). Actually i was going to ask if Lurch would provide strip details from his bible, once they have been Guessed, but have found my old bible stashed in the back of my album. Forethought again!... guess it mustn't have been me Unfortunately my map became a hand-me-down or i simply lost it or i would scan it also. Would be quite cool to be able to pinpoint the places on the map. Is anyone else able to do this?

Maybe we can have, if we don't already!, our own forum within a forum for past, present and future "Shags" and call it (to borrow someone else's classic line) Missionaries, Mercenaries and Misfits ...

amazing how the idle mind wanders...

HJ

Wink

amazing how the idle mind wanders
And, sometimes, never finds it's way back, eh HJ? As for captions, maybe if you send me a bit of info on each place. Sure, I can get some inspiration from the photo filenames but, as I've never been to any of those places, it would be nice to have some words about them from someone who HAS "been there, done that".

Veg.. how right you are mate! Capt Max wasn't the only one...

Windy... but that's Maprick every day!

Chuck... well if ya hadn't been so bloody impatient, I'd have left it til later tonight, to give the answer, by which time I hope to have the next lot available. But, as I'm about to head off to a Japanese Restaurant (no, NOT that farkin Daikoku) for a feed and to drown in saki, the next lot might be a tad delayed...

Anyway, we're around THAT point in total posts where our beloved mate Woomera will apply the padlock, so I may yet be forced to open part two of this... oh no!
