Impulse B1900 fleet may go????
I am hearing the B1900D fleet maybe reduced or go altogether. Many of the aircraft are starting to show their age and the abuse of many years of night freight. Impulse do have a very good lease deal on the aircraft, but they are still expensive for a 19 seat aircraft. Impulse's main concern is the operation of the B717 fleet.
Qantas has already said they are purchasing more Dash 8's for Sunstate and there is a good chance Eastern will pick up at least 3 more also, it appears Qantas wants an all Dash 8 fleet for their regional operation.
Any comments?

Impulse still serve a few ports which can't justify Dash-8 capacity, such as Glen Innes, Inverell, Taree, Grafton.
Now that the wetdreams have been long gone, the B1900D is the only suitably sized machine for those routes.
Rumour has it that Impulse engineering has budgeted to repaint 6 1900s this year. Now this could either mean painting them in QantasLink colours or the colours of a new owner . .

This may not mean much, but Qantas have produced the "Qantaslink Fact Sheet-Regional Fleet" and the only two aircraft on this sheet are the Dash 8 and the B1900D.
Waste Gate, a few other routes that suite the 1900 are Cooma (winter could do with a larger aircraft) Barcladine, Blackall and the Armidale Tamworth run from Brisbane.

From the QF website
Fleet
The QantasLink regional fleet comprises a total of 67 aircraft - 17 British Aerospace 146 jets, 25 Dash 8 turbo props, 4 Shorts 360 aircraft, 8 Boeing 717 aircraft and 13 Beechcraft 1900D, a fleet mix ideally suited to the regional network.
Site has a link to a picture of the each aircraft operated by QFlink except the B1900. I thought they would have painted them by now! From a distance they appear as if they could do with the odd cosmetic upgrade?

The 1900's will be here for a long time. The first aircraft should be in the paint shop very soon. I think you will find the SYD base will scale down and only be used for the night freight operation flying the 2 1900C that should arrive very soon. I could tell you the rego's of these aircraft, but that would give away to much.
The 1900D's that are operated in SYD will be moved to BNE, where they will be used to expand the Qantaslink operation. There should be an annoucement soon about a new port from BNE that the 1900's will operate. This port is currently operated by another airline.

No guys the B1900C are not in the country yet, as I said in my post "they should arrive soon". The new 1900C for Impulse will be SMH and AFR. Before everyone says they are B717 regos, well they were until 3 days ago. The B717 have had a rego change.

Hey Ramrod, not that it's overly important, but what are the new rego's on the Boeing's?
Is it really worth the hassle to change rego's on A/C?? Why did they wack them on the jets for anyway?
As I said, its not life and death, just curious...

It just seemed strange they took SMH & AFR off the 1900's last year to put onto the Boeings, when the 1900's were still doing the paper night freight.
As I said, I don't lose sleep over it, just seems like a painful exercise having to deal with the beaurocrats in CBR having to change it.

I heard that they were in fact getting just 1 B1900c and 2 caravans to operate as freighters only. Different a/c operate the night freight runs every night, that is why it was not important to have the regos on the 1900d's. I've also heard that the new a/c will be operated under a different AOC.
