For management to send an additional 6 drivers over for the B717 course means things are looking up for the Pulse Guys & Gals. Also other senior pilots are having their instrument rating renewals moved forward so that they have a fresh IR rating for the B717 which will further reduce Sim time required down the track.. .. .SO!! Yet again there seems to be some plans in motion and they will come out of the bag soon enough…….. .. .PAY SCALES – for those who bag Impulse and Virgin guys for the pay scale with which they have rightly accepted have a listen to this…….. .. .Pilots in other international airlines earn more money than QF mainstream Jet Jockey’s Some Pilots overseas flying Dash – 8’s are on Tax free US$$ with housing included so don’t single the Impulse and Virgin guys out for being cheap skates on small bucks… because the fact of the matter is on a Global scale ALL AUSTRALIAN pilots are on far less than our counterparts in other countries……but “we” get to live in one of the best countries in the world.. .. .Global trends of Low cost airlines are all the rage at the moment for one reason and one reason only – THE CONSUMER – to provide the general public with affordable air travel. For those of you with inflated ego’s that think the world revolves around them and how much they “think” they should be earning get a life……OR nick off and go overseas to chase the Magic Dollar $$$. .. .My mother once said : “jealousy is a curse” so stop whingeing you fruit cakes and stick a resume through the fax machine – YOU NEVER KNOW YOUR LUCK!!. .. . VINCE!!!

Interesting that some contributors WANT to be QF drivers at some times and then bag them out at others. Which is it boys and girls?. .. .As for being 'QANTAS' pilots, that argument is a big like who has the biggest ego. Why does it really make a difference. Most blokes I fly with say it and just rolls off the tongue with nothing more insinuated than that is the company we work for. If we are really going to get down and ask 'would the real QF pilot stand up' then things have got to a sad state.. .. .That said, like a moth to a flame, I'd have to ask if the Hazelton and Kendall pilots thought of themselves as ANSETT pilots or not? I'm thinking most wouldn't have. No matter what the colour scheme on the aircraft and what the media may say, I bet their pay packet said 'Kendall'.. .. .Just because 'our' company owns 'your' company doesn't mean that 'you' work for 'our' company. If you want to think of it this way, 'our' bought 'yours' in a blink, 'we' can sell it or close it down in about the same time frame.. .. .Really though, we could be working together for better pay and conditions for all of us and here we are debating who really is the 'real' qantas pilot. Does anyone apart from those that wish to be really care?. . . . [ 17 March 2002, 05:01: Message edited by: Keg ]

Thumbs up

"Really though, we could be working together for better pay and conditions for all of us and here we are debating who really is the 'real' qantas pilot. Does anyone apart from those that wish to be really care?". .Great idea Keg !. .I guess that most of the posters and readers on this thread do work under the Qantas banner somewhere along the line.Maybe it would be a good idea if AIPA changed it's charter and opened it's doors to all pilot's.Imagine how much could be done with AIPA representing all or a majority of us.. .

mp, that one was actually the subject of some discussion on Qrewroom a couple of months back.. .. .The short version is is that it isn't up to AIPA to go out and ask the others 'do you want us to represent you', it is up to the pilot groups to go to the AIPA and say 'represent us'.. .. .The current AIPA president is happy to answer questions about this (from what I understand). Just call the office and see what they have to say.

2daddies...I know this is a bit late, but I've got to say 'LOVE YA WORK'!!. .. .Your post was one of the funniest I've read in a long time. It brought a little bit of light relief to my day which has been darkened by a St Paddy's day induced hangover.. .. .Keep up the good work.

Spin, that obviously wasn't the same meeting where he told the 767 drivers that they were the most profitable part of QF. . .. .But if it makes you feel better.........

I think you made that up Spin.....didnt you? Was it a general employee announcement or was it a "meeting" scheduled by Dixon. If the latter, then your 'friend' must be very high up QF management. And if this is the case then maybe he can enlighten us on the answer to this post as originally intended..."So.....more 717's or what"

This is as good a circular thread as I have seen. . .. .The few whom I would have deduced to be from Impulse appear to have gone quiet ? . .. .Perhaps we ought to try a different tack ... when are the next, say two, scheduled QF Board meetings ?

Worms. The only way to describe you guys. When asked to step up, no-one could. Just a little proof to support your denigration of others.. .. .But nothing.. .. .I'm prepared to eat my words and more than a little humble pie if anyone can provide a shred of evidence. But still nothing yet.. .. .Just murmurs from a bunch of worms!

I'm gonna try my best to keep this topic at the top of the page until someone can say yes or no to the topic question. I know there will be an announcement soon, one way or another.............

Actually, the latest rumour is that not only have the Impulse 1900 drivers been told that there'll be redundancies towards the end of the year, but the 717 fleet is to be reduced. There're simply not suitable for a number of areas. . .. .So much for a massive fleet expansion. I guess time will tell.

Durrr..this may be a dumb question, but why would QF have bothered with the purchase of Impulse, and the benefits they stood to gain with cheap labour (as everyone mourned the demise of industry standards this was going to cause on this here forum), if they intended to get rid of the 1900's, make all the drivers redundant AND reduce the 717 fleet to boot.. .. .Don't make sense to me, but then I'm not the brightest. Someone please enlighten me? (No personal attacks...this is a legit question).

Rubbish!! What do you think the ACCC and Telfer would say to that. Anyone with a brain would no that a condition would have been imposed that Impulse could not be liquidated if the proposed sale went through. C'mon kids, now that is a load of bu115hit! Maybe no more 717's but the eight existing are here for a while.
