Post where some of the AN pilots are heading

Brett Godfrey said Virgin was about to commit to buying $400 million worth of aircraft and was processing 150 former Ansett pilots to meet its aims.

Being made redundant twice in the one year, might be a bit hard to take for Ansett techs.

Well, I got an email from one former AN pilot saying he was going to the Casino with his tax return. Nothing like having a firm practical plan is there?

I feel sorry for any poor GA bloke that has just shelled out megabucks for a 737 type rating in the hope of getting a job. I can just see it now, as they queue with the Ansett blokes for VB and the rest. "After you, Sir.....No.no,no, after YOU, Sir....

It is my humble opinion that the select few who are prepared to pay for their own training are the same ones who would otherwise not have the raw ability and drive to push their careers to such heights.

Thank god for low interest rates they say! At the end of the day its 30K for a job with another airline that may go toes up at any second without warning.

Soup Nazi,

Pleased to see that you have the raw ability and "drive".

You should make that statement out loud in the Virgin crew room - or for that matter the Southwest crew rooms in the US - one of the most successful carriers in the world - and all their pilots are total losers because they have to fund their own endorsement!

Why don't you just be thankful that you have achieved your career aims without having to pay for your private and commercial licence, had someone else pay for your instrument rating, and all your endorsements along the way...

Hope you are happy flying on QF because you never know when you might get a crew with no raw ability on DJ!!
