I have tried several programs to stop these ads, and the best by far is from meaya (www.popup-killer.com). Most of the others will not let a window below a certain size open, which can be quite annoying on an everyday basis, but this one will only work on actual ads. It's well worth the $25 to register after the free trial - I've been using it for a couple of years and am constantly amazed at the amount of ads I see on when using other computers!

Thanks for that Dr Bunson Honeydew,
I was very impressed with it and have bought it after catching 25 in three hours, the soothing beeps are much better than the junk.
A question I,m running on WINXP Home and there are four users in the family and it only appears on my toolbar, is it working for the others, if not how do i get it on their toolbar.?

Disbaling JavaScript in your browser will have the same effect, the big advantage being that it's free The downside is, of course, that some websites may work correctly, usually online web stores. IF I want to purchase something from them and am sufficiently convinced about the operator's bona fides, then I'll re-enable Java(Script) for the duration.
