Vercingetorix,

Could you clarify what exactly you are looking to achieve ?

The word "capture" suggests to me you're asking about tethering ?

The words "import to an external HDD" suggests you're possibly asking about backups ?

I've never used the Hasselblad Phocus software, but might be able to give you some ideas if you clarify what you want.

"Hasselblad Phocus" - "How to capture/import to an external HDD"

Well that's fairly cryptic. Care to explain of what interest this might be to non-Hasselblad owners?

Not used it, but perused the Hassy website earlier.

Seems its their version of image manipulation / management software (i.e. like Lightroom or Photoshop).

PhaseOne (Hassy's arch rival) also do two similar products (Media Pro and Capture One).

The RAW converter in Capture One is actually rather good and you don't need a PhaseOne camera to use it... plus its a relative bargain at only 229 EUR.

Hi Mixture
Capture is no problem, import to an external drive is.
With Aperture no longer being supported by Apple and soon to be replaced with a programme of lesser ability called Photos (which syncs across all Apple devices) I was looking for an acceptable replacement programme.

Hasselblad Phocus now works with other cameras and is available as a free download whereas Adobe is moving to a monthly subscription business plan.

Phocus is, in essence, very similar to Adobe Lightroom.

With Aperture I save all my imports to an external disc and was looking to do the same with Phocus but am, so far, unable to find a method to do so. I have the Phocus manual but all I can find is that on initial installation it allocates a destination folder on the main Hard drive.

On initial impression Phocus is better than Aperture.

Cheers

Can't you use the Phocus file browser, navigate to the external drive, right click on the folder you want to use and select "use as destination folder" (or whatever it's now called)?

Just as a "By the way", Adobe CS6 and Lightroom are available on a subscription basis as you said but Adobe stated a while ago that Lightroom would also continue to be available as a one time purchase item.

Lightroom 6 is supposedly imminent so we may see if Adobe will stick to that statement/promise. I am a bit cynical as to how long they will continue to make LR available on that basis.
