I rang Virgin earlier this evening and they explained the situation.

Those idiots who kept clicking 'reply' on their iToys clogged up the e-mail system, as did those who abused the situation with attempts to advertise their goods or services. Most ended up in spam folders; however, others whose stupid e-mails made it to the inbox were deemed to be spammers - so may have fun trying to recover their e-mail systems.

If people had simply deleted the problematic e-mails, the situation would have been resolved rather quicker....

Thanks FW. Tried for ages trying to get thru to a human voice with nil result. Suspect Virgin Media adopt an "Operation Ostrich" technique when they FUBAR and that by being incommunicado and issuing an apology will keep people sweet! I've had weeks of probs with my virgin.net address. My account was inexplicably discontinued, but eventually restored but has not been same since.
Not a happy Easter Bunny!

Beags Mon Brave, thou dost surprise me.! Are we being a tad harsh in reference to Qte: Those Idiots Unqte:
A quick check on yr profile and to discover your interest is "keeping bunnies happy" struck me as so fiercely bizarre because checking time of posts you could not have known the last line of my post. SPOOKY!
However, will contest your defence of Virgin and castigation of "the idiots" on the morrow

4PON4PIN, using the Virgin webmail site, I watched my spam folder filling up with stupid e-mails from people making the situation worse by attempting to use the situation for advertising....

Few e-mails made it through to my inbox; those which did I tagged as spam before deleting them.

The chap at Virgin with whom I spoke was very courteous and helpful, incidentally.
