PC freezing
I installed a series of updates yesterday including Windows 7 and a Nvidia graphics card. Since then the PC has been been playing up with the mouse pointer becoming jerky, the CPU indicator running at 100% with indications of a lot of writing to the HD. The screen then blanks with "no video". If I wait a couple of minutes the screen comes back.
Is anyone else having problems with W7 updates, if not it might be the video card update (the card is getting a little old, 4 years).

Off the top of my head, it does sound like the Nvidia update is norty. Undo it & see how you get on.
I've run Nvidia cards for years & I do find that the frequent driver updates are often to address specific issues in certain games, so quite often you just don't need them.

Thanks, since I rolled back the updates I haven't had a problem. I suspect that the Nvidia is the problem.
But that said, I never install updated nVidia drivers these days. Too many things break, and often nothing is fixed. I have occasional system freezes that I think may well be linked to the video drivers, but the things I've tried to download in the past were worse, so I gave up.

I would recommend never, ever, ever installing a hardware update from the MS site.
Only install device drivers from the manufacturer's website. SD
