The thing is people actually do answer these things. Hovering the mouse cursor over the link usually gives an address in russia/korea or the like. I have heard of outsourcing, but thats a bit of a stretch

Most of the ones I get these days are from the USA, but with spoof sites in South America. I suppose I'm in a different subset of spammerdom.
I'm in discussions at the moment with the Rev Soso Maxwell from DHL UK (checking his initial e-mail to me showed he's based in Colombia, but you can't have everything) who is going to send me a draft for £600,000 as soon as I send him £250 via Western Union.
Trouble is, my pesky Bank isn't willing or able to remit money via Western Union, and there isn't a Western Union office within range of where I live. We're in the process of trying to find a solution.
(No, I'm not using my normal e-mail address! He obviously doesn't know he didn't write to my spoof address, and he has a consignment number for me.)
He has my postal address - I rather hope he goes there and demands his money

You may recall a few years back there was a great film clip of some 'spoofbuster' who set up a meeting (?Amsterdam?) with the spoofer'. I cannot remember where it was - on Youtube by now, no doubt.
I've has 3 more of the same emails this am.

Got a good one alegedly from PayPal saying they were holding a payment for $126 to Live Strip Chat Camera Sexy Girls that had been made via a european internet address . Just ignore the mail if its OK or follow the link to cancel it

Don't think he knew The original spam was, as I recall, to one of my "aviation" addresses.
Most of the spam I get (I read some, just for amusement) are from Barrister Mr XXXX YYYY or some similar professional-sounding title that no genuine person would use.
I remember that one - he was in the USA but knew of a webcam covering a particular quiet square in Amsterdam, and recognised the spammer's initial e-mail as coming from there. Lots of e-mails between them along the lines of "You didn't show up" ... "I was there when you arrived. I told you to come alone, but four of you got out of the car".
Didn't they subsequently catch the spammers and lock a large number of them up? I recall cash being seized, and all sorts.

I have received a lot of spam over the last few months from [usually] Eastern European addresses purporting to come from Lloyds/TSB
Recently - probably at the end of Oct - the legit Lloyds/TSB website asked that all such spam be forwarded to them at <[email protected]>
I forwarded it and - not sure how they've done it ... but .. it's all stopped.
