A spook in the machine

Still writing at 03:30 or so, and suddenly the Rivetess' Skype thingy pops up.

She can't sleep either thinks I. Terrible sleep problems in this household these days. Anyway, her laptop was about 30 feet away in the dining area. just for a laugh I'll buss her.

No reply. Well, that's not unusual these days, so I just pressed on, sure tht she was hailing distance away. When I went out there, house was dark - laptop on batteries and on line.

Two things.

It had been 'hibernated.'

The internet connection has to be made by the menu bottom right, every start - whatever the shut down mode.

Any ideas what could have not only started this, but made a connection to the router without the usual tedious procedure?
