Post PPRuNe server offload

I am under the impression that after the removal of the number of postings, the system responds faster.
Offloaded the server of some work I assume...
Perhabs more you can offload and if someone wants the stats and details, it may be available on the personal side of the particular member.

Keep the work up

Reducing the number of threads in a forum does reduce server load. It's one of the (many) tasks we do to keep things moving...

However we won't just for example delete all posts older than 4 months as there are some excellent threads that deserve archiving. So as you can imagine pruning a forum involves a lot of work!

So if we delete our own posts, say when they are no longer relevant, does this also help in some small way?

Has the recent colour change been done for similar reasons?

Don't bother deleting your own posts as it's much more efficient for us to delete a large number in one go. For a fairly quiet forum such as this we only delete stuff about once a year. For busy forums such as R&N then it's whenever we have the time to save the good stuff.

The recent colour change is due to Danny getting bored with the previous colours...

Talking

Nothing significant other than the colours Saab - just whiling away a quiet Saturday afternoon . Not as easy as it seems when we're limited to the approved web gamut of colours - just over two hundred of them. Anyone with an eye for design can find that very limiting.

Thus a lot of toing and fro-ing over the phone with Danny to get the right colour alterations to effect a little bit of a mood change. They key in much better with a new front end we're working on for the site. We're hoping to appoint an editor to roll over articles and info very quickly on the first page potential new PPRuNers see. The horrible jargon is making the first entry to the site more 'sticky.'

The new colours also tie in much better with our existing logos, the first experimental batch of baseball caps and t-shirts we had delivered last week as well as the already popular PPRuNe wings.

Regards
Rob
