Xmas Ipod - ooooops
For some unknown reason to me my wife decided update her music on her Ipod. Anyway, in putting on the new software she lost all her tunes in the library, including those she has paid for and her CD collection.
Sadly no back-ups and the system restore cannot bring back her tunes. Of course they still remain on her IPOD but I am uncertain what happens if she plugs it in to the update on the computer bit will she lose the tunes on there as well.
Is there any recovery from this?
Any help at all will be be most appreciated.

To get the songs back, just go to the file menu and choose "add folder to library". Then find the iTunes folder and choose that.
Or you could try this, Copying iTunes Store purchases.
or this will copy ipod to pc, anapod

Sorry to hijack the thread, my wife has bought me a IPOD for christmas, i've managed to wipe all of her music in the past so i'm worried about how to set mine up! We have one laptop to run 2 ipods, can any one suggest a alternative to itunes that allows 2 ipods on one laptop?
Thanks

changing itunes library
Over the last week I bought myself an ipod nano.Having spent the last eight days inputing my music 4000+ songs into my itunes library ( due to the fact that itunes would not recognise thr Sony Walkman ATRAC coding ) yes I have been lectured by ipod owners!!I would like to enquire if there is an easy/quick/safe way to move my itunes library on my desktop "c" drive to an external "l" hard drive and if there is would there be any issues with my nano trying to find the songs. I know in the preferences you can allocate a location for the songs in the library ( presently "c" ) however if I changed the
setting to ( "l" ) would all the previous songs move there or just the new ones I would rip after changing locations.I really do not want to rip my cd's for a third time

I hold a backup copy of my iTunes library on a removable hard drive but use the local copy to connect to my iPods. Use Microsoft SyncToy to keep the two directories (three if you count my laptop) in sync.
If it all goes poo I just copy the removable back to My Music and get iTunes to import the tracks.
