mobile phone ringtone question

just got a new nokia 7000 series phone. all the ring tones are really cheesy. i just want it to sound like a normal phone!! i am too old to have mission impossible theme music when my phone rings. i tried to buy on from the websites but you can only buy gareth gates latest hit.

where can i get a ringtone that sounds like......well.... a phone?

ps there is no 'composer' on my phone

mazzy..thanks...but searched this site...still only music.....

i just want the phone to ring like a normal phone. my definition of a normal phone is very broad..a house phone, an early mobile phone, anything which could be remotly desribed as 'ring,,,ring'.

all the sounds on this website like either a modern song or else the 'classic tones' sound like tacky background music to a german porn movie.

i guess the old idea of the sound of a ringing phone is gone forever

If it's a Nokia I'm sure the old traditional ringtones are there - dig deep.

Mine is fairly new (not your model) but you have put me off replacing it.

Sure you have explored all menus ?

Can you record sound on it? If so, record your fave phone, save it, then use that as a ringtone. That is what I can do with a 7650.

Mine (Ericsson Z600) has a ring tone that sounds exactly like those 1950s US phones. If you heard it and didn't see it, you'd look for a large black object with a plaited lead.

Probably won't work with Nokia, but if you want me to e-mail it to you to try, PM me with an e-mail address.

Old Phone ringtone is on its way to BH - we'll see if Mr Nokia's finest can download it from the PC...

Folks who've heard it in my phone have been most impressed.

I sell ringtones (one of my first sites is in my message above) so I will try and get a good few ringtones put together that sound like normal phone ringing.

This is one of my first sites - not the best looking one in the world but I am in the process of developing more.

TextTheworld

Let me know if you have any more suggestions - I will be able to get them produced.

Regards

Maz

Hi Bommer - yeah thanks for that. With regards to the advertising I suppose it may have looked a little suspish - but I have used the forums long before this post and only posted the link because I believed the ringtone would have been available - dont forget there are literally thousands and thousands of ringtones websites (all pretty much offering the same stuff).

With regards to the attatchment - it depends what it is - if it is a ringtones or something similar the usually it can be transferred by infra red (if you have it on your pc of course) but most likely you will need the cable. You can buy these off the net or straight from Nokia for a few quid.

Best wishes

Maz

Got a "ring ring" tone from
www.polyphonicringtonez.com/wap

access from your phones wap.

If this is deemed advertising, I dont mind this being deleted!

Yes whenever you order a polyphonic ringtone (from a non wap site) you are sent a code and a URL via text message, you then go to this URL on your phone and enter the code which will usually expire after around an hour.

Cool

Nokia cables are quite expensive, you can get cheaper ones but notoriously difficult to get them to work. I recently purchased a cable and software for a 6100 from expansys for a lot less than the nokia cable on it's own and the best thing is it works. Not sure if it covers your phone as you say 7000 series, this covers 7250, 7210?

If your phone has IR (most do), then use an IR link to upload the tones to it. That's how I did mine. It was extremely easy. I downloaded that one from my phone to e-mail to you the same way.

An IR device for the PC is probably cheaper than buying a proprietary piece of wire with a Nokia plug on the end. Ebay is a good bet.
