ITunes in Europe
Has anyone heard if iTunes is coming to Europe anytime soon?
I'm tempted to jump onto the MP3 bandwagon and quite like their system, but...I am not a resident of the USofA so can't buy anything
Kazaa and morpheus aren't as interesting to me due to possible security issues so no point telling me how marvellous they are...

I think it's a copyright issue with the music producers and artists, they even had a crack down recently on websites like CDNow because they were selling cd's sourced from outside the EU. It's not quite what your looking for but if you want to try different genres of music you can go to Vitaminic the bands are all fairly new and not yet popular but you can download lots of stuff for free without copyright problems.

It'll happen when Apple can reach a deal with the European record companies. I've heard rumours that it could happen later this year along with a Canadian store, but nothing directly from Apple. Here in Canada there are some other online music stores popping up, so it can't be too far away for us.

Has anyone tried buying oneself an iTunes gift voucher, using a PayPal type account, and then using the gift voucher for oneself?
I suspect that we may be waiting some time before iTunes becomes available in Europe....sadly.

I note that a few crums of legal MP3s have been thrown our way by emusic.com as per this article on the BBC news site (along with Vitaminic [as mentioned b4] and mp3.com if you like unknowns and weirdos).
The rest alas, are reserved for Uncle Sam and co.

So let me get this straight.
Same company, same music, same software, same manner of distribution. However, Stateside 1 Track Costs $99c, Britain it costs GBP 79p, which at todays exchange rate is $1.43. Why does it always seem to add 40-50% more when a product makes its way from the US.
In the same vein the 15GB ipod. EUR 350 from Apple Ireland. From Amazon.com its $277 which is about Euro 232. 120 Euro price difference! And yes, Amazon will deliver to Europe
If you were buying a lot of music from I-tunes wouldn't it make sense to go the route Capt Chambo advocates and save your self some dosh. What a scam...

If you don't like the price, you'll have to complain to the record companies, not Apple. Their the ones that control the music distribution, including costs. I'm sure Jobs tried to get the price down ot the same level, but even he can only go so far. On the other hand, the online music stores currently open in Canada sell the songs for 99c Canadian, which is a little bit less than in the states.

I downloaded iTunes today and it has to be the easiest way I've found of downloading and playing music to date.
I've tried all the others like the Coke site, OD2 and the various music company sites and this seems the best so far. I can live with79p a track as it will allow you to download a particular track from an album. Seems to be a good choice of artists and also some exclusive stuff. I can see why it was so successful in the USA.

Why not try http://www.allofmp3.com in the mean time ? Russian but you can find your way around in English .I wouldn't use my credit card ,but Pay Pal is accepted.
This site doesn't appear to be a scam, but it is at best operating in a very gray area of the law. The Register has covered it a couple of times, e.g.

I agree with Diverse - like the s/w - easy of use - looks good - easy to use - got just the right amount of tools (well done to the designer - should be set as a case study me thinks) - no pressure in pre-loading an account - and the choice is reasonable though I'd like to see more non-English language songs like in myCoke and then I'll be a happy bunny. Re the cost, it's about the same as buying a complete CD in a shop, so doesn't bother me + got to pay the artist somehow (even though most of those I like are dead!!).
