Trial version of Windows XP 64-Bit from Microsoft.com

Microsoft has a free download trial of Windows XP 64-Bit Edition. Only compatible with AMD Athlon 64 or Opteron processors. Intel need not apply.

All you fellow AMDers get it here:

Windows XP 64-Bit Edition for 64-Bit Extended Systems Customer Preview Program

I'm an AMDer, but something tells me that my AthlonXP isn't going to cut it. On the other hand, if someone wants to lend me an Athlon64 or an Opteron...

Question

Just toying with the idea of putting an Athlon 64 system together. Any suggestions as to which motherboard, CPU, memory, power supply requirements or would it be better to wait a while longer?
Thinking along the lines of MSI K8T Neo-FIS2R, AMD Athlon 64 3000 Retail pack, Crucial Memory.

allthatglitters,

A couple of my fellow Mods at MSI are running the MSI K8T Neo-FIS2R and are very happy with it. The next gen nForce3 Pro Chipset is due to be released soon, and should be a very good alternative to the VIA Chipsets.
