I don't think anyone has received calls. I haven't and a few of the other guys I know haven't received calls as well. I agree with you 777, I think they'll begin in the new year after the Christmas and New Year holidays. Please don't quote me though, stranger things have happened...lol.

CAL is an airline that is always full of rumours, but seeing that this is a rumour network, I'll give you the rumours that are in my mind, closest to the truth......
We are short-staffed on all fleets except maybe the 767. The 737 boys have been flying reasonably hard but that's to be expected around Christmas. There is no vacation available for the ATR boys from January thru March. So it's obvious that we need to hire. Around 80 pilots were interviewed and assessed toward the end of last year with a plan to hire anywhere from 4 to 15 initially.
While all this was going on the new board, led by Phillip Marshall devised a plan to move the airline forward. They presented this plan to the government, specifically Minister of Finance Howai, and it was handed back to them to make some changes. What those changes are is anyone's guess. I'm not aware if the revised plan has been handed to the government.
Talk is strong that the 767 fleet will be shut down, it's simply costing too much to run. There are approx 30 pilots on the 767 that will, most probably be re-absorbed onto the 737, where they're desperately needed for the coming 2014 schedule.
What that means is that new-hires probably won't be needed and apparently hiring has been put on hold for now.
I know that's not the news that anyone wanted to hear but as I said, these are the rumours.
When the new plan is announced we'll have a more concrete idea of how things are shaping up for new-hires and I'll share what I know.

Hi Zig,
Thanks for the update. I'm kind of getting use to this now...lol. I guess it's back to the waiting game again. Any word on how soon Caribbean will know if they have the go ahead to hire again? Thanks once more for the update.

Rumour
I wonder why they would continue to November LGW-POS-LGW then withdraw. Seems an odd month to pull it unless of course that is when the lease on the x 2 B767 is up for renewal ?
Lets hope no one like Mandela dies again....otherwise how would all the Caribbean Heads of State reach somewhere like South Africa again ?

Depressing
What is the hold up to hire? Is it that the Cash Flow is too low to send pilots for type ratings?
I heard of Pilot shortages with Caribbean airlines, both the POS and KIN base, but its still silent for several months on both ends.
Does anyone have inside info as to where and when we get some action?

Caribbean News Now!: Commentary: COPA Airlines may shake up Guyana's aviation sector

A lot of Quiting, firing, but no hiring
http://www.trinidadexpress.com/news/Per ... 57201.html
Caribbean Airlines (CAL) vice-president of Human Resources, Charmaine Heslop-Da Costa, has said she resigned for personal reasons from the airline.
Sources had told the Express that Heslop-Da Costa was asked by CAL chairman Phillip Marshall to demit office after bonuses were paid to the Jamaican crew during the Christmas vacation.
The Jamaican pilots were absorbed from Air Jamaica into CAL following the merger of both airlines in 2011.
The decision to pay the bonuses, sources say, resulted in the cockpit crew of CAL at Trinidad launching a sick-out and several flights were cancelled during December last year and January because there was no cockpit captain/first officer.
The flights affected were from inter-island (Caribbean destinations) and Tobago.
The protest was their way of grousing over being sidelined with the bonus issue, sources added.
When the Express contacted Heslop-Da Costa on Saturday morning, she maintained her resignation was for “personal reasons”.
Asked whether she was denying paying bonuses to the Jamaican pilots last year, she said: “You need to speak with the company about that. There were no payments. I am not aware of that. My resignation is for personal reasons.”
Corporate Communications manager at CAL, Clint Williams, in response to questions posed, said via e-mail that “Mrs Heslop-Da Costa, VP, Human Resources at Caribbean Airlines, tendered notice of her resignation, of her own volition, and will continue to function in her substantive position for an appropriate period to allow for a seamless transition.”
Williams said, in this regard, “the board and management express their appreciation”, and thanked Heslop-Da Costa for her services.

Everything is so quiet
It's interesting how everything is always kept on the downlow...
You're right blue, there is a lot of everything happening except hiring, I know for a fact that there are need for more employees..
From next month CAL starts SVD route..
And what ever happened to the remaining 4 ATR, is that still gonna be delievered?
