Bilingual Aviation Language

Normally aviators in Canada tolerate the lunacy of having two languages spoken which obviously robs an Anglophone pilot of situational awareness. One has to have abnormal trust in the French ATC system.
That tolerence is rapidly dwindling especially since the language police banned the sale of the cuddly toy that talks.
You see, it only speaks English.
Punish the children?
The body count from this loss of situational awareness started in France when the French pilot of a MD80 was given Take off clearance in French and another pilot talking to the English controller was cleared to line up from a taxiway further down the runway. The MD80 wing sliced into the cockpit of the Shorts and killed the crew.
We may be stuck with this dangerous situation but the Gov of Quebec just won't let up.
Picture this scenerio.
Qubec seperates.......they will then HAVE TO speak the International Language of Aviation or no Airlines would go there unless spoken to in the appropriate language.

Here we go again, another debate on who as the best system, who should be speaking who's language. And then why not drag the seperation of Québec into it while we're at it. Are'nt you folks tired of hearing the same bull s*@T all the time. It's a fact people from differant part of the world speak differant languages. It just so happens that more people speak english that alot of other languages. But french is not the only exception, if you try to fly in a Mexicain part of the world or cuba or any of the southern republic or contry you will realise that they speak there native language on the air to each other.I don't speak Spanish but you don't hear me complain about it. The botom line is you can't stop someone from speaking his own laguage in his own house to his felow citizen. So if you don't understand it's your responsability to learn the languge or if you think your in danger just ask ATC about it.
But please don't go run your mouth that english is the only acceptable languge. All the cultures have a right to exsit. Second of all I dare you to name me an accident that happened in Québec because of french????

Please don't get this forum involved in political debates. The aviation community is well aware of the loss of "situational awareness" that exists when everyone is not speaking the same language. Its common sense.
Until the political "elitists" decide to change the rules, this situation is going to continue to exist. Sorry, but your comments are not going to change this reality. I'm sure when you get international experience, you'll know what I mean..
There are more important aviation safety issues that have to be addressed first...

Tan I agree with you, and I hope you didn't think I have never been else where as said in my post. I know it's a political debate but why souldn't we alowed to talk about it surly different people can have different opinion and we sould be able to discuss them with other people. It the lack of infromation and experience that make the people to pose bad jugement on other people or situation. So if someone eles as a different opinion then you it doesn't mean it's not worth listening to. Don't be so quick to juge people. You sould at least listen to what they have to say and then expess your opinions. Political debate is a subject like any other one and if you don't want to listen to it just don't read it!!!.
A forum is a place to expess one self, we all have a right to speak our minds.

I suspect that you still haven't made up your mind as to your choice of profession. Do you plan on becoming a Politician or a Pilot?
As a Pilot you would very quickly realize that not speaking correct ATC English has led, and does lead, to all sorts of problems when flying outside Quebec airspace. Might I suggest that you check the number of Quebec based carriers that have had crews restricted form flying into US major airports because of language problems. Its a matter of record.
Please, refrain from making political epithets without the experience to back them up.. Life is to short to waste everyone's time.
Keep the blue side up...

You are putting forward quite a statement when referring to air crews being personna non grata in US air space. This is equal to saying that all poeple must be of one colour only,my my my what is this funnel we are getting in to, is there no place for different cultures and languages, must we always be at each others throat to see who is best!!!

Should the sun shine on only a few privileged ones as in Money??????

Exactly why flying and politics' should not mix. There are no winners... All that is created is emotionalism and the resulting dangerous conditions stemming from that emotionalism.
As for your other political statement, please check your facts before commenting. I didn't restrict the aircrews, the FAA did, because of their inability to understand instructions. Period.
I do agree that the people in the world had better learn to get along with each other before we end up destroying each other. When will we learn? That is the question.....

Tan,
I'm think you have no idea to whom you are talking to. I have been around ( that's outside north america) and belive me you are making a big mistake by assuming you have the only correct way of thinking.
So if we apply your statment to evrery contry in the world you would probably be baned from leaving yours. English is not the all mighty language out there it does'nt mean that beacause you speak english that every body as to. If you don't understand the communications aroud you then stay the hell out of there. If you think it's that dangerous then why are you still doiing it??????
You have to either, lead follow or get out of the way.
I'm fully bilingual and could'nt care less what if people speak french or english. I sugest you do the same thing. If it makes you that nervous and your not doiing anything to correct the situation you have a problem or just plain ignorant.
One last thing, I will tell you the same thing please refrain from making statments without the experence to back it up.!!!!!!
cheers.

Well my word, another separatist. As I wrote before, take up your fight with the FAA, their the ones who applied the restrictions, not I.
As for experience, I sort of doubt that you have you have the experience that you rant about. Otherwise you would know what I have said is true. The situation is just as bad or worse in other parts of the world. You should be aware of the problems of ATC trying to speak English when its not their mother tongue.
The big problem in Quebec is that its borders are next to some of the busiest sectors in the US. American ATC cannot afford the luxury of taking chances and that is why they restricted some Quebec carriers pilot's.
You should know better...
By the way, I too, am lucky enough to be bilingual. So please spare me of any more of this separatist rhetoric...

Well once again you go and make asumtions, I'm not gona waste my time justifying anyting, but as I recal the bloodiest accident in history of aviation involving to airplanes collinding together because of a miss understanding was the tenerif one with the two 747. And as you must know everybody spoke english on the radio. So you have yet to name me an incident that happened in Canada due to language. As for the FAA well it's tipical of them to react in such a way.
I will not go on in name calling I will just say this. It's true some flying people don't have a very good english and if it resrticed them in their where abouts well it's their problem. I am glad to hear that you speak french. But you must at least admit that if you go to mexico or some other spanish contry you will encounter the same situation for the spanish and what should they be blamed as well for not speaking the language of the Gods (oups sorry it sliped out!).
Any way nor you or I will change all of that and I wish peace to all...
