passport photos

Hi! From my understanding, you only need to get more passport sized photos done if u pass your medical and then u bring them to dubai with you. Thats what they told me in my email anyway..hope that helps you. And i suppose i will smile in my photos because thats what they have said to do all along with all the other photos..but i dont know for sure what they want. But I didnt put any passport photos with my medical and they didnt ring me to ask for any when my medical was approved.
See u in Dubai!!:O Justsmile!

Hi there - am new to this, what a great forum! So glad I came across it! Was enjoying just reading everyone's posts but thought I would add my own bit in! I'm due to fly out of Auckland on 22nd Sept - is that the same as you mtan? My training starts on the 28th in Dubai - would LOVE to hear from anyone else who is the same :O

photos

Oh yea, meant to say - I have emailed and asked about this - they're the blue background 'smiling/formal' head and shoulders only ones. The 4 extra ones they ask for need to be without glasses/headress (if you normally wear either of these). :)

Hi there,

Does anyone knows about passport size photos that you need to submit with your medical needs to be 'smiling'?? or normal?

HI Newnz,

Its nice to hear from u newnz. Are you leaving on 22nd sept?isn't it 22nd Aug? coz we have to get all the medicals checked and get approved..Im going to the home doctor tomorrow to get it done.
I was wondering about the photos as well since it doesnt mention in detail of how it should be taken, does the back ground have to be blue? I'll prob use my digital camera but don't have any blue back ground around the house..=.=;;
Anyways thanks for your help

Keep in touch:ok:

Starting date

Hi again mtan :)

Um, but the 22nd August has already been - unless you're meaning next year. I went to the July open day, so I've already had my medical docs sent over and approved (5 vaccinations and all... ouch!). The photos you submitted at your final interview should be okay. I had mine done at the Photo place in New Lynn. It costs $75 but they make a really good job and use a blue background. In the contract type document I received on Thursday it specifies it needs to be a blue background. Then again, if they haven't asked you to re-do your photos, the ones you submitted at the interview are most likely fine :) You could always phone them - they're really nice and helpful I've found. I really hope you're coming over on the 22nd too - be nice to have someone to chat to about things on the way over!!!
Hear from you soon I hope:O

Hi Sabby_nz,
Thank you! I'm pretty excited about it all but kinda nervous too! hmm, not quite sure how to describe myself! I was in the group initially with Chelsea if that helps! Which 'one' are you?? I am ex-Air NZ Crew and went along with a friend who was also. She had to get her photos re-done also, but has decided not to go ahead with her application anymore. Well, fingers crossed for you! Let me know how things go :)

SABBY NZ - Thank you for the well wishes, your reply is coming soon
NEWNZ - Welcome to the forum nice to see another kiwi on the site
MTAN065 - Thank you for your well wishes.

I will be flying out November 10th or even latter, due to my current employment I have to give 6-8 weeks notice, so I have requested that they book me in for the latest flight possible so if not November hopefully December, the latter the better to be honest.

I just completed all my vaccinations:uhoh: , xrays:cool: , and blood test:eek: today as well as a medical examination $320.00 latter, and I still have to complete my dental and optometry examination. This is working out to be a very lengthy and pricey job application.

Hopefully everything will work itself out! I just wanted to know if anyone has heard of anyone getting declined for employment after submitting their medicals! It would be interesting to know!

Newnz 11th Sep 2006 03:57

Hey Fieval!
Yes - totally agree it is rather expensive! Mine worked out to be around $550 for everything - ah, well, thinking positively, atleast I know I'm healthy and well immunised! I know of 5 people who went through interviews at the same time as me and all passed the medical side of things - don't know of anyone who hasn't. I think you would know if there was something detrimental once you got your results back from the doctor and dentist. All the best! :)

Update on my medicals

Hi guys!! My medicals have been cleared and now I need to go ahead with the pre-joining formalities.
So anyone waiting for approvals on their medicals...stay cool. The approval will come eventually. I think they go according to your date of joining in giving priority to your medical clearence.

hi to everyone, as i said before, not crew but my daughter flew out to Dubai last Friday 8th September. They've put her in an hotel for the next six weeks. There's about 15 of them, and they will prob move once the new accomodations ready. She says the hotels nice with pool gym and free access to the internet. They have a free breakfast in the morning but have to pay for rest of their food. They get 25% off hotel food. There is a bus that collects them in the mornings to take them to the college, at the mo she's just going through all the medicals again blood tests etc. She's had most of her uniform, has to wait for bits, and was really excited. They'll have to wear it tomorrow for grooming class! hope this helps some people.
