In-flight bathroom emergency question
In-flight bathroom emergency lands man in jail - News- msnbc.com
A man faces US Federal charges after twisting a flight attendant's arm to get to the lavatory for a bathroom emergency. TSA rules state that passengers on international flights have to use the restrooms in their seating class, but surely those rules can be bent for humanitarian reasons? The story makes it sound like this passenger didn't communicate his dire need very clearly and resorted to pushiness. Please reassure me that sometimes exceptions can be made when circumstances are desperate and passengers communicate their needs clearly and politely!

A full bladder is... an emergency except to USA air carrier cabin crews.
When they tell you "sit down", you are supposed to "sit down".
Ein, zwei...! - If not, you are a (full bladder) terrorist.
No matter what. No barking, and pee in your pants.
I would recommend one of these flasks (Paul Masson) with large bottleneck.
Obviously, you will then be arrested upon landing for "indecent exposure".

When I have a full bladder, "seat belt sign ON", I go. There, they understand.
They guess "you got to go"...

When I am on the road, with my car, I stop next to the nearest tree.
Or walking in whatever village or town, a wall, if available.
If windy, I have my own wind sock to aim properly, avoid the shoes.
Ladies seem to generally prefer doing it "behind the car"...
Try that in USA... (I lived 25 years near Los Angeles).

emergency ? hardly.
Peeing in ones pants will put that seat out of commission until the whole covering is changed. Would you sit in a wet seat that hadn`t been rained on ? Me neither.

If you read the news article it was not a pee that he was desperate for, he had eaten something that upset his stomach, you know what i mean ? He asked the attendant if he could pass the trolley in the aisle which was blocking his access to the toilet in his class of seating and in desperation he ran for the business class loo.
If i was a flight attendant i know i would not have liked the clean up job .... and would have been more customer orientated.

Of course, a reasonable person would foresee that maybe drinking a couple of beers just before descent might make for problem when the seat belt sign comes on. A reasonable intelligent person would pace their bathroom breaks and liquid intake to accomodate the safety of others.
Of course, also, the world is full of selfish, self-important morons that think that they don't need to think and that if they endanger others with their stupidity, it's not their fault.
My favorite was one day when the aircraft was taxing in, some fat bastard gets up to get a jump on the rest of the pax getting his stuff from the overhead bin. I told him to sit-down until the captain turns off the seat belt sign. He just sneared at me at just about the time the captain had to slam on the brakes. Mr. Fat Bastard goes flying onto the aisle floor.

There is a question that I've got to ask, as having shuttled across the north atlantic on a regular basis, no-one has yet managed to give me a clear answer.
I appreciate the FAA mandate that you have to use the facilities in your own section of the plane, but being "just a daft laddie" what do you do on an international flight to/from the USA if:
A) you are in economy, there are three toilets in this section, but on boarding, one is U/S. half an hour into the flight, both remaining toilets become U/S. What happens - do you all suddenly beocme upgraded to business/first or is a divert to nearest available field mandated?
B) You have an economy ticket and check in just by the skin of your teeth, the flight is oversold in Econmy, but as a frequent flier, you hold platinum status with the airline & they are duty bound to transport you even although the economy cabin is full and they allocate places based on the order in which you checked in. The business cabin is empty, so, grudgingly you are upgraded to a seat in business class, but still on an economy ticket. Are you still expected to go to an economy bathroom in this case?
OK, I'll admit that "B" is a bit facetious, but "A" is a question I haven't had answered, despite being on flights where some of the amenities have been unservicable prior to departure and others have subsequently failed in flight. Is a toilet in each cabin on the ETOPS Minimum Equipment List?

Before takeoff, use the lav. During takeoff, no lav. During cruise flight, use the lav. If M/Cl lavs are inop, use C/Cl lavs, and if necessary, F/Cl lavs, and vice versa. During landing, no lav. After landing, use lavs.
Diarrhea, need to vomit (providing you can still make it), small children needing to go etc., I will pull my cart out of the cabin, or point you to the nearest lav, never mind what class.
