i agree theft is theft and wrong but like i say many people have used not abused a legitimate crew purchase scheme that allows crew members to purchase mins of wine beer spirits and soft drinks to be honest i dont think many people would think to keep a reciept to prove said fact just incase our dear old plods came round to investigate a perjury case instigated by the news of the world and suddenly found that said minitures were of sudden interest and relevant in said perjury case...

Interesting that this thread has come up as I flew back from Dubai last week and was sitting in one of the 2 seats right at the back of the 777. One of the crew members luggage was in the overhead to my left and not long before landing he had to move my bags out which were in from of his case to access his case. I then witnessed him putting a few bottles of water into his case.

I did wonder whether this was in order but as others have pointed out it would seem all was OK.

Not really sure why some of you believe you are above the law. If the wrong person takes an interest in your activities, having your companies property which you haven't paid for is stealing and you will lose your job and perhaps worse. Even if its in a barf bag with peanuts and a cherry on top. If you believe otherwise your are deluded or stupid.

Those of you who don't work for BA are missing a crucial point. Crew ARE entitled to take bottled water off the aircraft (max 2 x 500mL). Crew ARE allowed to purchase minatures and minerals. The question raised is 'how long are you supposed to keep your receipt?'

Anything else is theft, granted, but how can police come into someone's house, find a generic item such as a minature of alchohol and immediately accuse the person - regardless of ANY OTHER INVESTIGATION - of stealing. Where do you draw the line? Do you have the receipt for every single thing you have purchased?

The Police can accuse you of anything they like, they need to prove it though and the emphasis is on them to provide evidence of a crime.

In this case she's been charged with other crimes and on finding a drawer full of minitures or such like, I'm guessing the coppers thought on the balance of probabilities and based on previous behaviour, she might well have nicked these from work, lets inform her company. It is the right and responsible thing to do. Or are you seriously suggesting the Police just say, "oh well they give these to each other with nuts and pink fluffy bears as a cabin crew tradition so lets not worry about it" and close the drawer?

The receipt thing is a red herring, if its in your house it doesn't mean its nicked with or without a receipt and no one will be charged with anything under these circumstances. If the Police can prove it's stolen then of course its very different, but prove it they must.

Cheers
