Thanks for the information on training dates. Does anyone from MON have any rough idea on typical rosters and salaries both for the summer and winter from BHX? Also, how the base is to work. Feel free to PM me.

You normally have a validity period of ten weeks for a standard disclosure certificate. So as long as you apply for you're airside pass within that period you will be okay. Beyond that its another twenty quid I'm afraid!

Monarch Contracts?
Have you been offered temporary contracts or perminant ones? Were you told that at the end of your temporart contract you would be made perminant or able to re-locate to another Monarch base? Last year there were a couple of people from the Scottish base who were given a perminant contract at Manchester and relocated there in Oct (they got this after working 6 months on a temporary contract, they were NOT re-entries). Other than that I do not know of anyone who was able to re-locate after being on a temporary contract.
At Gawick there were no re-entry course last year, there were only 2 courses (about 20 or so on each) and out of about 40 crew, 30 were 'offered' rentry... rumour is Gatwick is over-crewed (by 100) and that is why many don't think there will be re-entry this year. There were NO permainant contracts given at Gatwick last year. In previous years cabin crew were given a perminant contract at the end of their temporary one.
At Birmingham last year there were about 100 new crew. Only 13 were given perminant contracts, all were offered re-entry, however it looks as if there are 2 new entry courses in March already, judging by what has been written on here! Also their contract finished in Oct and they were told that if there was re-entry this year, than this would not be until May. Rumor is, is that there are no re-entry coursse until May at any base (if there are many re-entry courses in the first place)?
At Luton there were 2 courses last year and again at the end of Oct there was no contract, but re-enty offered.
This is all what I have heard from people on here, at Monarch and on various Cabin Crew sites.
I am just interested in anyone else thoughts?

Thanks for the post john, it's been very informative. I'd applied to all of the charters that were recruiting this year. FCA told me they were over-subscribed, I've got TCX interview tomorrow and sent my MON application off about a week ago, and not sure if it's too late.
For the BHX base does anybody know whether they interview and train locally? Also anybody got any experience of rosters and how the base is?

contracts
Well done for getting a perminant contract! I am pleased you got one as you are always posting positive and useful information on the various cabin crew websites... You deserve it, as you take the time to respond to various posts and always come across as freindly etc.
I met a few crew from BHX and they were very upset that they had not been extended in the first place (like you) and then not given a perminant contract. They said that they were told by the trainers that at the end of their contract in Oct they would be made perminant, if not at BHX, then at another base where they could re-locate. They also said that they were even told to write to Luton with their preferred base!!!!
You said that it was a temp contract you were first given. Of course you are right and if the trainers (managers, other crew etc) had kept saying to people that it was a temp contract, than last years new entries wouldn't be so upset. Trainers and various CCO's gave incorrect and misleading information with regards to crew being taken on perminatly at Monarch and this is not fair. Regardless of what had happened in previous years.
New Entries starting in Man and BHX (and other bases I guess), have been told exactly the same thing... Other companies that take on temp crew ie First Choice, Thompson, do not mis-lead new entries and make it clear that they are temp contracts.
Because of the mis-leading info etc, people find them-selves unemployed at the end of their temp contracts and had not planned on this happening.
I think the day's of perm contracts at certain bases at Monarch are over. Well done you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
