Hotel
The hotel during training is the ********* hotel.
It has a gym, indoor pool, sauna, 2 squash courts, tennis courts, bicycles to hire, a smart car for crew use, a crew lounge, etc.
The hotel is a 10 min shuttle ride from the airport,....(the shuttles run every 20 minutes)....and from the airport, trains run to amsterdam central every 20 minutes....journey time.....20 minutes.
Its good fun, but you'll be too busy studying to have too much fun
(edited to remove the hotel name in accordance with PPRuNe safety regs)

hi
Hi Jollydolly. I used to work for xl and have just been offered a job with KLM from Norwich. My advice would be to do a bit of research on the company. They will do a presentation and you will have a easygoing test on what they have just told you plus a couple of scenarios. It's alot less stressful and shorter than the XL interview and only takes about 4 hours. The people who were doing the interviews were really nice and made me feel an ease. Are you from Norwich originally then?

Ladies and Gents, sorry to barge in on the thread, but here's something I meant to mention earlier (but forgot) that you might find useful:
As you may all be aware, KLM Cityhopper flies with mixed cockpit and cabin crews, i.e. Brits and Dutch. In terms of day to day operations, this is not a problem, as all the Dutch colleagues can and will speak English.
Very few of us Brits on the other hand, speak Dutch. This starts to become more of an issue on the occassion that you find yourself to be the lone Brit in the crew, and have a nightstop downroute. Whlst most of your colleagues will make the effort to speak English for your benefit, there will always be the natural tendency to revert, without any malice, to their mother tongue and first language....especially as the night wears on, or the drinks flow . This can leave you feeling a bit isolated.
Please dont get me wrong, you will also get to fly with UK colleagues from your own base, and will even end up in a all UK crew on some flights.
So, whilst the ability to speak Dutch is not a requirement for the job, I can assure you that a willingness to learn a little bit will earn you a lot of brownie points with your Dutch colleagues, the passengers, and will enhance your social life in the company as a whole.
Even KLM have recognised this fact, and are in the process of scheduling all the existing UK cabin crew on basic dutch language courses.
So, my advise,...give yourself a head start and either start learning some basic dutch, or at least be aware that you will have to
Good luck to everyone who is applying or has an assesment.

Hi Kate? Cool when were you with XL and at what base? Im really looking forward to the interview, but dreading it at the same time lol. But from what i have heard it will be a lot more relaxed than the XL one, although that was pretty relaxed anyway! does anyone know how many flights you will get etc?

Anyone going to be at Norwich for the 1230 appointment on the 31st??
i'm quite looking forward to it, from what i've read everyone seems to be very positive about the company and the people in it.
If anyone is coming from the Essex area maybe it would be an idea to car share?
