Gwennie,
I am also sorry to hear how you have been treated. I can only imagine how you must feel.
I hate to say this but I am honestly not suprised... This company is being run by a bunch of cowboys with no idea.
The treatment of cabin crew is sadly a joke. The latest is that 20 cabin crew have just been fired for sick leave abuse. What they dont realise is that people abuse the system because the motivation here is at an all time low. Crew are working for nothing, going on long layovers in Europe/Canada with no allowance and spending all their salary just to eat.
I was one of the few people in my batch with true passion and enthusiasm for this airline but over time this has been worn down to nothing. We wait and wait for things to change but it doesn't happen. And the excuse that 'we are a new airline' doesn't fit anymore. We are 3 years old now!
Gwennie everything happens for a reason, you will find something much better than Etihad. My advice is apply for Emirates... they are the airline in the gulf worth working for.
Etihad . . . very disapointing

Gwennie,

I can only guess how u feel, especially when u were almost here. But listen, these things happen in every airline. Last year, a friend of mine was accepted in EK, she waited for 6 months, and than they called her and told her she weren't succesfull. Can u imagine? And she did all medical!!!
Look at the bright side. There r many other airlines, so give it a try. And EY is not a very good solution for the time being.

The French guy everybody talks about is Br....

Speaking about those fired crew I must say that for sure there were some crew that abused the system, but on the other hand there were crew who were just forced to call sick, as when they send u on BRU-YYZ u end up broke. One girl here was unlucky to have 2 of these flights in one month!!! She is quite desperate, as she is ending the month with no single coin in her wallet!

The management should take a deeper look at this problem, not superficialy like that.
And like Cabincat said, we are not motivated here at all! I was among ones with greatest enthusiasm upon joining, and now I just don't give a sh... anymore

The latest talk of the town is that they r looking for a replacement of the French guy, With such fluctuation of the employees, I wonder where EY is heading?

Gwennie as EYtruth said try another airline and yes thinks are not as good here. As for the french guy....who are they going to replace him with, another GF person?????? What about the french guy's other half who nobody knows why he is still at EY. We need a normal, positive, experienced person who understands the crew and the crew's problems, concerns, feelings. Someone who can coach the crew to be a better crew and yes, expect the crew to follow all procedure but yet fight for the crew as well. I wonder if we will ever get someone like that...... We don't need someone to come on a power trip or quick fun in the UAE. We need a person who understands the crew culture as well as how to deal in our multicultural world at EY. Someone who comes on flights sometimes and spend time with us to understand us.
We need allowances for the long trips or people will still call sick and stay negative. Brin positive things our way and crew will respond in a positive way as well.

Crew Fired

Guys!

It's true 20 Cabin crew were fired few days ago and more will get fired.

HR is monitoring a list of 150 crew with an average of 14 to 20 sick days with no sick note, sick before or after leave, before or after requested days OFF, abusing emergency leave.

The 20 crew who got fired, they've just received calls from HR staff not even from the management to bring passport for visa cancellation and ID.

we have crew resigning for EK and crew get fired

How many crew and how much money EY will loose this year???

It's costs a lot of money for the training, temporary accomodation in hotels (6 months ), resident visa, allowances for the 5 first weeks, Airline ticket when you join the compagny!

Instead of loosing this money because of resignation, Why we don't get allowances for layovers as a normal airline? everybody will be happy!!!

EYCC how right you are!
Such a simple solution for an ever escalating problem...
Allowances!!!
What the **** is wrong with this company???
!0% of the worlds oil here and they can't even pay their hard working crew for the 'National Airline' a decent wage!
It is an absolute disgrace.
Can you imagine flying 14 hours to JFK when it starts for 15dhs an hour and no allowance for food when we are there???
And they wonder why people call sick

Do you people not read the contracts that you sign?

I do think it is a little immature/naive to b*tch about the pay structure after you signed the contract.

Get off your high horse.

We were told in our interview that allowances were being looked into.

For me the money sounded OK. Nothing in the contract says anything about flying pay being paid a month in arrears so you are on the back foot from day one. Nothing in the contract about being in a hotel for 6 months having to eat out three meals a day. That adds up.
I was not aware just how much it would cost to spend 3 days in GVA 10 in BRU YYZ etc

Then when you find out just how much EK are getting it stings a little bit.

Then once you get over hear you find out just how much

A bed of fake roses, EY.

I'm another VICTIM of EY, just like Gwennie. What the **** is going on with EY? They made us spending our hard-earned $$$ for medicals; going thru all da vaccines. For da job sake... I did whatever they asked me to. Could u imagine taking 5jabs in 3days time? Spending my annual leave just to be in da hospital for all kind of tests n vaccinations?

I emit a long sigh every morning when I look at da test results, vaccination certs, bitewings, xray films... everything was done for nothing. All efforts in vain.

EY, you really thought money falls along with da rain? You know how hard we work here just to save a few pennies?
