Exclamation Etihad Airways working conditions

Hi guys,

I have a sound offer from Etihad to work there, and would like to see if anybody can shed some light here with the following questions:

- Hows the general mood/work environment? management point of view on employees?
- How many days off a month? Is it possible to request several days off toghether? if so, how many?
- Can we request specific flights, can you ask to flight with a certain friend, make swaps with ease, etc?
- hows the accomodations? any restriction on visiting times? does male and female crew live in the same building?
- hows the length generally speaking of layovers?
- hows the basic salary and allowances, how much you make average?
- do we have id90 for our family members, on zed carriers?
- whats the profile of passengers, same as any other middle east airline?

Thanks so much for your input guys, I really need it!

Etihad Airways

I see this job currently advertised. Can anyone in Etihad advise if they have a maximum age restriction? What is the job like?
Thanks

If you have loads of experience don't let the published age limit stop you from applying. There is one cabin manager over 40.

Etihad Cabin Managers

Hi everyone! I was just wondering if anybody here from Etihad can shed some light to my questions? Any infos will be greatly appreciated.

1. How's the salary package for EY Cabin Managers? (basic, per diem, flying allowance, layover allowance, others?)
2. When you get hired as direct entry CM, will you automatically receive full CM monthly salary upon joining? or you have to go through CM probation or line training in Eco, Jclass and Fclass for few months?
3. Do CM's have their own accommodation? or shared?

Thanks in advance guys.
Cheers!

Dont even think about it

I was employed by Etihad as CM in March 05.
Got to Abu Dhabi and it all changed!
Everything we were told in the interview was either bullsh*t or changed.
The management were pigs.
And did not give a rats ar*s about the crew.
Salary was atrocious for the hours we did.
CMs waiting over 8 mths for their own accom.
I could go on and on but cannot be bothered.
If you go to EY expect to be treated very badly not only buy management but by the passengers in general.
I walked away recently having waited and waited for the promised position that came 9 months later.
So many of my friends left long before me.
out of my intake of 15... 4 are left 12 mths later!

Sick of waiting.

Devil No No

Umm....What to say...

NO NO NO. As fourplay said Don't even think about it. What you have been told in the interview day would ABSOLUTELY not come true!

There are no age limited. But if you have such experience, it would be better to go for another airline.

Basic salary is only 1000DHS (approx. 150 pounds) more than normal crew, plus only 20DHS(approx.3 pounds) more per your duty day. No lay-over ALLOWANCE, which means if you have a fliht to London or Eu, please use your own money.

If you are hired directly as a CM, you might force a respect problem from crew, also you will be lost with the airline culture here. Ofcourse, there are probation for 6 months. You should get paid as a CM since start, but please double checked. The contract is quite tricky.

For sure, you supposed to get a single appartment accom. But it is a big problem over here. So you will end up in a hotel room. Once the single appt. avail., they will move the CM who got promoted before you in....So you have to wail for your turn....Don't know when??? Because there are loads of CM who still have to share with the others, sometimes normal crew.

Nowaday, you can choose to get accom. allowance instead. But you have to buy furniture and so on by yourself. The allowance is included phone bill, gas bill, electricity bill, utility bill, transportation, etc. Not worth it at the end!

Etihad doesnot have such a level crew. There is only one CM per flight then crews. Then they got a well trainned , so most crew cannot solve problems out by their own, they will run up to you every minutes. Sometimes even for the simple sense. You will be resposible for their life, pax life, security, and also you have to be an instructor, NOT just a Guide, teaching crew on your flight about safety&security, plus services!!!

I must warn you that this com. lick pax's arr**se. I know in service industry pax is always right, but it's too much here! Pax can treated you so bad or even call you b*tch or talk bad about your family, but you cannot say anything much back. The com. never support you in such a thing.

As fourplay said...Pax general here are

BUT IF YOU JUST WANNA JOIN FOR FUN, THEN I SUGGEST YOU TO ASK FOR A MAXIMUM LOAN HERE (you will get approx. 25 times of your salary) AND SLIP AWAY....THAT'S WHAT MOST PPL DO!!!

Fourplay,fourplay,fourplay.....hello ,yes its me again after all this time...and my evil sister Marsha says hi. Well i have watched all this pan out with a vested interest: i tried to warn you well over a year ago before you even left your country and you really paid out on me for bagging etihad!!! How right was i tho???!!! I wish you had listened to me. Anyway, what a bunch of fools they were to let you go ,what with all your experience. I say take the money and run!!
As for your interview, well what you were told was not crap but , unfortunately, things change daily at Etihad and they make stuff up as they go...thats just how they are. Thank god they have seen some light and finally put HH in training and away from running the Cabin Crew dept!!

Angel Etihad Airways

Hey everyone,

I was looking @ the entire website and coudn't really find a section on Etihad on it's own or even Qatar. I think all threads should be sorted and catagorised so that we only have to click on an Airline and then select the gossips related to that airline. Maybe I am wrong and there are sections on here but I couldn't seem to find any.

Anyway so here's a bit of info for those wanting to join EY.

Salary package for Cabin Crew
Basic - 3,020 AED
Allowance - 210 AED per duty day.
Total number of possible flying days per month - 22
(Salary for month = 3,020 + 210 x 22)
Total off days a month - 8
Min off days a month - 7 (But you get 9 the following month)
Annual leave - 30 days. (You don't have to complete 1 year, you can take it the same year you join)
CM basic salary is 1,000 more than ours.
Accomodation - Yes it's true that they put you in a hotel for awhile. I was in a hotel but nice one for 4 months until they moved me to temp accomodation and then finally to a permanent. I am lucky to get single accomodation. Some building are such. CMs get their own apartments single, no sharing....but some have to wait as there is a shortage of buildings, thus Etihad has stopped the recruitment for now.
Aircraft types - A330-200, A340-200, A340-500, B777-300ER & very soon, A380

Salary package for Cabin Crew
Basic - 3,020 AED. Actually is now 2050 for your first 6 months now. EK get payrises we get pay reductions.
Allowance - 210 AED per duty day. Yes True but paid a month in arrears so your first month of flying you only get paid 2050. Try living on that in a hotel when you have to eat out all the time plus European layovers.
Total number of possible flying days per month - 22 Once in a blue moon yes. Usually anywhere from 15-20
(Salary for month = 3,020 + 210 x 22)
Total off days a month - 8
Min off days a month - 7 (But you get 9 the following month) Never happened to me or anyone I know.
Annual leave - 30 days. (You don't have to complete 1 year, you can take it the same year you join) You will need a month to recover from the trauma of trying to get your annual leave ticket out of staff travel. Thats if you have a 30 days left after they take 3 weeks to process it.
CM basic salary is 1,000 more than ours.Wacky Doo. Do you know how much EK CM's get. PLus many CMs are consistently getting 15 days or less/month so their pay ends up being less than crew.
Well you got a nice hotel but what about the others who didn't. What about the people who live in a hotel for 6 months? But if you have single accomodation then you must be in one of the rubish studios which is basically the size a hotel room it just has a small kitchen. Actually come to think of it most hotels have a bath you don't. So I guess you wouldn't have minded living in a hotel for so long.

Pinkus.. so true ! Glad that someone is confirming the real picture at EY. Managers who have been sucked from other airlines. Managers who don't even know the culture here or the people and what it is like to work in a multi-cultural company. Let's not even talk about some of the "ones" who come onboard to be nasty to all of us and they don't even know what their job is. SCARY !!! I know quality people who tried to join EY but were never even interviewed. Well, EK seems to be collecting the "good/qualified" people.
