YAY YAY YAY

Hi guys,

Still haven't told my parents yet! 2 hours or so to go. OMG they are going to freak out!

Iulia, thanks for re sending that pm. I have replied to it. Yes, you are right, my folks are going to be very very excited!!!

Eagle, I have replied to you via a pm to your other name.

As far as "old ladies" go - there were no old ladies there on my VBRD... just one older lady who, like us all, was having a go at Virgin Blue. Maybe it was her dream to be a flight attendant too! We can't judge her because she didn't really look what we all considered "flight attendant material". Good on her, I say, for trying. I always thought that I was not young and beautiful and skinny enough for Virgin Blue, but I thought "I don't have anything to lose by trying at least". So I tried, and to my amazement , horror , and just pure happiness I made it through. So to anyone out there who wants to give it a go... do it. You just never know your luck in a big airline!!!

Virgin blue is really keeping the air... fair.

hahaha STF you're a sucker for VB already! lol thats good
well at my VBRD there was only one 'older' lady, and she looked pretty good for someone who was, say, my mums age! SHe was nice too, but now that I think about it... is it possible that she was an undercover VB person??? Since everyone says that there was some 'old' lady at their VBRD?!!

And for all you peeps interested in me and my future... my REX recruitment day is on Wed 19th Jul, sorry eagle, it isn't this week, so I guess I won't be seeing you at yours.

STF

I know about the older lady as I was talking to her so I know her past and the reason she was there...

Thumbs up

How's everyone's stuff coming along? Hostee, have you heard anything yet?

It's been 6 days since my JQ assessment centre, I sure hope they contact my referees soon.. as up to today I've heard nothing from my references. I'm trying to be upbeat and positive.. So, good thoughts still.

Iulia, is your REX interview soon?!

mscabincrew :)

Heya! And I'm assumming you were directing your questions to me? hehe
Anyway, so we're in the same boat.... 18.... you still at school, or finished last year? Have you previously worked in any customer service industry eg retail, fast food? And also, have you completed your RSA, got a licence, car, renewed passport, and senior first aid? Coz then you can start applying, though I see some airlines say its okai if you come to the interview just with the receipt that you'll be doing the course... but don't take any chances seeing as you're applying with as many airlines as you can, just be prepared and have all the certificates, saves having to worry about THAT when it comes to an interview.
My worries when it comes to an interview, are that I'm only 18 (and a half! lol remember always saying that as a kid?!) and I'm still in school, due to finish in like 8wks... so fingers crossed that the peeps at my recruitment day aren't too judgemental about that lil fact..! hehe
BUT do log onto cabincrew.com.au and APPLY APPLY APPLY!!! Make sure you read in which states the smaller regionals fly/are based in case you're not willing relocate etc. I've applied only to Melb-based airlines... while I'd love to fly, I'm not willing to relocate... I'm being stubborn as I figure Melbourne is hugeeeee and always thumping with something happening, and if I can't get CC with an airline here in Melb, I'll just keep on waiting to reapply again!
However, my ultimate dream is to work for the lovely Virgin Blue... *sigh* if I were to ever get a job with VB, I'd always thank the guy above in my prayers, always, without fail... thats how much I really long for it...
But enough about me... you were asking how did I get the interviews? or something like that, I think the trick is to make sure you have all the 'fields' required (as mesntioned above, passport, RSA etc) I don't think people should expect airlines to wait for them (airlines wouldn't anyway because there is such big competition in the industry, and if someone is already qualified/meets the requirments the airlines wont wait!) so yeh, thats my two cents on that
Also about my resume, my bf is a comp nerd and he made my resume really fancy shmansy, whilst easy to read at the same time He made if fit on two pages, and only included the ncecessities eg work history, referees, education and in the top right hand corner, my address, DOB (thouh I'm contemplating taking that one off!) and phone numbers (house/mob). If you're really worried about your resume, perhaps ask family members/friends whether they know a good layout and can help you out with it, or go to your local library (hehehe, libraries!!) and there are stacks of books there of 'how to' do professional resumes yourself etc If not, and this seems all too much of a hassle, find yourself one of those people in the classifieds of a newspaper that make you a resume given your details (my friend did this recently, cost her about $50 and burnt onto CD) and my boyfriend chimes in, you can also find examples/templates on the internet
I hope all my yadda yadda was helpful!! PM me if you have any more specific queries, and reading along this now HUGE thread LOL you will find many other smarter peeps who are currently working with a particular airline and can give ya a complete rundown of things, coz I'm still just a newbie... then again, when do you stop being new?? lol xoxo toodles!

18 days to go...

Hey guys

Hope everyone is well. I finally told my parents and they are soo happy for me! Actually everyone was really excited for me.. as everyone knows how determined I was to become a flight attendant once again.

Anyway, Iulia your REX interview... I will be praying for you and thinking about you on Wednesday morning - it would be such a fantastic start to your avaiation career ! I really hope you get it, because after that, next stop would be YOU KNOW WHO (and it rhymes too)

Sylphie, you will have to keep us all posted about your interview with JQ. My fingers and toes are crossed for you.

Where is Gloria and Wannabe? My 2 new study buddies to be??? Have you guys booked your uniform fitting yet? Mine is next Thursday morning! OMG!!! I get to try on the uniform !!! I just found out the colour of the stockings, and guess what? They are the stockings I usually wear anyway to work so YAY! I know how they are going to look at least!!!

Anyways, keep you all posted

Take care y'all

Awww...

One of my wisdom teeth are coming through, and its killing me! I wanna whack my cheek so hard so that it numbs it... can't take anymore tablets as I've reached the limit for today hope the pain subsides by my Wednesday interview... I talk with a lisp just so my gum doesn't hurt too much, thats how bad it is!

... But on a lighter note, its great to hear STF that the fam were wow-ed! out I'm suprised to that they're measuring y'all up already for uniforms, I thought that would come at the very end of the training.

I'd be worried about the exams in the training, they said at the VBRD that the pass minimum is like 80% for the majority, and then 90% for one in particular.

But I'm sure you'll be fine, as you've been a FA before and probably know the drill

Thank you everyone for being so positive. It's staggering to see how nice everyone has been towards all us hopefuls, I love that.

I am still keeping positive, imagining a nice invite to the next stage appearing in my inbox! I hope so!

Good luck to all!!!

That's the spirit!

Sylphie,

Positive thinking is really the way to go I promise Take it from an old boiler like myself. If you think positive, it will show in everything you do, and I am sure that you will get a lovely email in your inbox soon enough . Having said that, if you don't get one of those lovely emails, if you want something bad enough, it will come to you - trust me on this!

I have gone through 2 airline collapses. Had the last airline that I worked for not collapsed, I would have been still working for them, and probably would have never applied for V.B. Things DO happen for a reason - and it isn't just a cliche.

You will eventually get what you always wanted - as long as you never lose sight of what it is that you really want. GO FOR IT!!! I did. 3 times! (plus about 8 other times when I got those nasty little rejection letters!!!)
DONT EVER LET ANYONE DETER YOU OR PUT YOU OFF GETTING WHAT YOU REALLY WANT. GO FOR IT - because one day, when you least expect it... IT WILL HAPPEN. I CAN GUARANTEE IT!!!

Yours truly,
STF
